Replace my jeep...

with this?

I need opinions. I'm starting to get sick of my Cherokee. I usually dont hang on to cars this long anyway, so I'm really getting bored  . I dont want to spend more than $2500 and ex-cop cars are pretty damn cheap and they're rwd with LT1 power. anyway, let me know what you all think of my idea.

project89 06-20-2006 09:53 PM

turbo the jeep instead???

WayFast84 06-20-2006 09:55 PM

EDIT FROM MY ORIGINAL POST TO EXPLAIN WHY.

Go for it, sell the jeep, get the cruiser, get the cheapest maaco paint job. Fix everything wrong with it, Probably the optispark.. then maybe look out for a cheap Thirdgen, in case your intrested in a burgandy gta heres a link to one Under $1000 http://www.bargainnews.com/viewad.cf...&TheDealer=873 drive the caprice till the next fbody is fixed then sell the caprice.

Was that serious enough?

Get a neon

Ian 06-20-2006 09:58 PM

guys, I would like serious input here, thanks.

maroman88 06-20-2006 10:19 PM

buy it! 9C1 caprices own, just peel all the chrome off and throw some rims on it and you basically have an impala, only difference is the cop cars got the green heavy duty raditator hoses, otherwise the 9C1 and impala suspensions are the same:)

camaro2you 06-20-2006 10:28 PM

go for it!!!

NP_00'T/A 06-20-2006 10:29 PM

The only bad part is cops beat the ever living **** out of those cars. I used to work for our town DPW and the mechanic was trying to fix stuff on them everyday because they were run so hard. Just expect things to break when you buy it its probably not going to be a really reliable car.

bad64chevelle 06-20-2006 10:31 PM

Man, Ian I didnt think the news I gave you today was that devastating....

Rich189 06-20-2006 10:43 PM

id say go for it but like said above they beat the living **** outta those cars

unstable bob gable 06-20-2006 11:02 PM

Chit, if you don't buy that ex cop car I just might! It's less then 2 g, and you are a mechanic, so get cracking on it! Then I will be able to mooch a ride from you! :)

it wasn't, I was thinking about 9C1's all day  . BUT, you did break your end of the bargain :?

and they cant be that unreliable, I saw a lot on Ebay with 190K miles and more that were still chugging along.

My wife would drop kick me right in the face if I come home w/ any more cars, so ya don't have to worry about me buying the copper car. Plus I need to sink a few more bux into the Caddy.
SO GO BUY IT!!!

qwikz28 06-20-2006 11:23 PM

anyone know if those are posi rear cars? jon knows how i feel about those lt1 b-bodies :)

Ian 06-20-2006 11:36 PM

jake, if I buy one, you should buy one too and we can cruise around together 8)

BigAls87Z28 06-20-2006 11:37 PM

Doo eeet!! I agree with the beat-downs, but worth it. At least ill know where to get the 2wd spindles for my 72 so I can do that 1LE brake swap....

Tru2Chevy 06-21-2006 12:47 AM

I say go for it Ian. The few 9C1 cars that I have seen have been 3.42 posi cars....

And if not, I think Tim still has a 3.42 posi from a Caprice sitting in "the garden" :)

ex-cop cars have potential.

if you do decide to buy one, how much are you looking to get for your jeep?

Buy a white 96 Camaro SS!

maroman88 06-21-2006 07:31 AM

as far as miles go, most old cop cars go on to serve as taxi's which get drivin up into the 300k miles range in cities where pot holes are bigger then fbodys

camaroracer1992 06-21-2006 09:30 AM
