Anyone wanna do some automotive work for some side $?

Friggin Buick needs a new intake manifold gasket...just a pita and I honestly don't feel like doing it & don't feel like getting raped at the local places so if anyone that actually knows what their doing & wants to make a couple hundred bucks let me know.

you know where to find me.

Savage_Messiah 07-10-2006 05:36 PM

damnit, you had me until "actually knows what they're doing".... at least its not a head gasket like you thought

foff667 07-10-2006 05:56 PM

unfortunatly this aint that much better...theres just so much crap sitting there in the way that needs to be moved or removed and the intake manifold is of a two piece design which means even more work...just a pita...tim i might take you up on that offer...i gotta see if napa has them in stock because autozone & parts america/advance dont carry them as normal stock.

Ian 07-10-2006 05:58 PM

intake gaskets are cake walk. if Tim doesn't want to do it, I will.

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 07:26 PM

I have a rear heater core line in my wife's pilot I need changed - got hit with road debris. You want to do that?

GP99GT 07-10-2006 07:37 PM

what kind of buick are we talking about here? if its an N/A 3.8 series 2...you might need a whole intake manifold (theyre cheap, composite)

foff667 07-10-2006 08:37 PM

its the 3.1ltr v6...aluminum two piece intake.

Tru2Chevy 07-10-2006 08:51 PM

Bill, make sure you get the revised factory gaskets. Upper and lower intake gaskets are known to fail on those motors, and GM issued a redesigned gasket to fix it.

Hopefully it hasn't been leaking for long, otherwise you might be looking at a lot more work.

when you say rear heater core line, you mean the one that runs the length of the car under the car right? I might be able to do that on a saturday when I have access to my lift at work.

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 08:57 PM

Then stop driving it if it is leaking. You are on borrowed time.

Yes. It's a long mother. You a Honda tech?

Looking at it makes me think the cradle might need to be dropped - the sway bar is in the way.

Ian 07-10-2006 09:09 PM

I'm not a honda tech, but a friend of mine is. I'll ask him how big of a job it would be. what year is the Pilot and what motor/trans does it have?

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 09:18 PM

2006 EXL (AWD). I think it is a 3.5L Auto; they are all the same. I could have th erear part of it torn out before I get there. I have to order the part still. I haven't decided what to do with it yet. It is bypassed right now. God damn new car.

Ian 07-10-2006 09:46 PM

thats not covered under warantee? thanks for the info, I'll find out if its do-able and let you know as soon as I do.

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 09:58 PM

You know, I wouldn't think so. I hit something. I should probably ask.

Ian 07-10-2006 10:10 PM

its worth a shot anyway

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 10:12 PM

Maybe I will go down there on Saturday. I still say it is **** design that the lines are so exposed.

Ian 07-10-2006 10:23 PM

chrysler town and countries are the same way. It is a really stupid design.

BonzoHansen 07-10-2006 10:29 PM

I noticed the ridgeline is the same way (same chassis). A real off-roader.

Ian 07-10-2006 10:54 PM
