Man, I friggin hate this POS state!

I just went to dmv in Trenton to title/register the 1970 Camaro. They've been closed for 10+ days due to the flood and budget crap. So I show them the Canada ownership docs signed over to me, the 7501 import form, the signed bill of sale the owner sent me, I already have insurance on it and I had pictures with me. They say they won't title it without a Canada notarized bill of sale, I need a VIN tracing on paper, I need an HS7 import document which nobody requires anymore according to the import company so she had to find a carbon copy for me and dmv wants to see the shipping documents! WTFFFFFFFFFFFF! So I start saying there's no way I can get a Canada notarized bill of sale by Friday before the sales tax goes up. I complain about them being closed for 10 days while I had the stuff waiting. And I tell them that the guy I bought the car from works for Toyota and gets sent to Japan several times a year and he might not be available to get the bill of sale notarized! :banghead: I really don't know how I kept calm enough to even have a conversation, but I said no way in hell I'm paying 7% because they were closed for 10 days! The lady was very nice and tried everything she could but the god dam NJ red tape bullsh!t won't allow me to title it. That's where our money is being wasted folks! The importer was stunned when I told her what the problem was and the seller of the car couldn't believe what was needed either. The shipping documents consist of a carbon copy of the car's description signed by me and the truck's driver so that might not be good enough either. Dammit I'm pissed! I wasted a half day and now I still need to go back this week.:soapbox:

Hey Al, I got classic insurance in just 1 day going through MK Insurance so you might want to give them a call. They get the best prices because they farm it out for you. You still might have an issue because most collectors insurance companies won't insure driver's under 25 but I would still call them to see if they can find somebody who will insure you. I got full coverage on the 1970 SS396 valued at $30,000 for $265 a year with a restriction of 3000 miles a year(that's the same restriction as vintage tags/registration).
It wouldn't be such a big issue for me if they hadn't just raised the sales tax which he promised he wouldn't do when he ran for governor!
As for DMV, :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :soapbox: :soapbox:

jeff i feel your pain i went to DMV today too because my license expired the 30th of june, so today they tell me i need like all these damn things that show i am a legal citizen and ****. I got so pissed off I asked the lady if I needed to get my dead grand mother out of the grave to vouch for me, and in the mean time I know if I was an Illegal immigrant I would have been in and out in 30 seconds.

Well, I still have that careless driving ticket that will be there for a while, so I think Im gunna go with Allstate since my family has been with them since Moby Dick was a mino. They gave me a really great rate on my Maxx for full coverage for a 20 year old, and have been pretty good to me despite the few run ins with the law.

Vitctory! I was able to get a Canadian notarized bill of sale overnighted from the guy and the import company sent me the form that no other state requires anymore and I had my VIN tracing and shipping docs this time. Another drive to downtown Trenton and I was able to title and register it. But get this, as I was getting ready to write out the check for the title and taxes I said I wanted to get the QQ plates as well. So she tells me "that's another office and you pay for that separately"! What???? I knew I had gotten the QQ plates down there before in that same building on the same floor. I'm like WTF? She says "yes, that's window 6". Luckily I had brought 2 blank checks in case I screwed up one. I had to give them 2 separate checks for the title/taxes and for the registration. This explains why we can't balance a budget! But, it's over with and now I can drive the car. Woohoo!:w00t:
