working blow off valve FTW

well after some time no of driving around wondering why the car feels liek the brakes come on during the 1-2 shift i finally figured out why.
teh dam spring in my bov was way to stiff.so after cutting 3 anda 1/4 inches off the spring the car is so much better on teh shifts.(no more boost spiking or lag).
the only bad thing is now if i get off it before it shifts outa first and come to a stop, the motor loads up with so much fuel it stalls :( . then again i could just buy the right recirculating valve to fix it but then i wouldnt have that bov sound on shifts and getting off the gas.)

im swaping to speed density soon enough.so ill deal with the stalling for now.its better then buying a 200$ recirculating bov that ill only use for a week or so

whoooooooosh noises rule! I remember when I finally got a working turbo on my old 4Runner. You should have heard that thing after it shifted. It was actually a peppy little truck with the turbo 4 cyl. But it got lousy gas mileage when you were into the boost too much. Nothing like 4WD burnouts in the snow! whoooooooosh

i love the bov sound.whats even better then that is i love seeing ppl do dbl takes when they hear it comming from a camaro.last time i stoped and went to get gas i had a guy come running over and as if it was turbocharged.cause he heard the bov.it does get much attention i must say.cant wait till the car gets painted and ****.car even got alot of attention down at the e-town cruise night.just about everyoen who saw the car did dbl/and triple takes.

but yeah gas milage sux if u dont keep it out of boost.which im having a hard time doing.since the turbo is so well sized to the engine it spools by 2,300-2,400,and if im on the highway and goto pass somone and the trans downshifts there is zero lag it will go right into boost

I personally like the supercharger noise on a camaro than a Turbo. When i think of turbos i see in my mind the Mitsubishi - Honda - Toyota cars. The only turbos i like to see in camaros are the Monsters they use on pro drag.

the supercharger is a nice sound but i can keep the turbo nice and quiet untill i want it to be heard.supercharges always have that whine to them even @ idle its kinda a giveaway

im kinda partial to both of them, but then again the whine of a blower could get annoying at times i think

turbo whine isnt much better,i have a loud ex on the car and when the turbo spools up it drowns out the sound of my ex.atleats u only hear it when u go into boost.my 87 has a gear drive on it,was cool for about the first month, but after aout 20 mins of driving u get real tierd of the whine fast

we talking about a female ex or a piping ex?

I don't think your turbo whine would drown out my female whine :knock:

And to all the people who think "turbos are for imports," you're kidding me right?? Or have you just been living under a rock for 20-25 years?

I've had both turbo and supercharged vehicles and they are a blast. Both make some noise but who cares. Twin turbo EFI smallblocks are the ultimate though. FTW!
