getting ready to build new engine for the 86 But

ive gone boost happy.with the success of the turbo mmotor in the rs. i want to build a boosted 355.heres were the hard choice comes in.my friend has a b&m blower that hell sell me.6-71 with manifold pulleys and belts for 700$'s.or i can get my hands on 2 t-70 ball bearing turbos for about the same cost.so i cant decide on which to build.ive always wanted a blower car, but twin turbos would be just as ****ing nice and i cant decide

WWJD? what would jacob do

i think twin turbos would do you better in a street car. the blower on the other hand will make some great wheel pulling torque from idle to redline  i'm gonna vote blower unless you can get your hands on a bigger single turbo. ideal would be a big single, maybe t-76 ball bearing turbo with alky injection and take the spray out of the 2.8 (if we can still call it that) and put it in the 86.

project89 07-19-2006 01:27 AM

the 2 t-70s i can get have a small enough ar on the hotsides they would actually spool faster then a single larger turbo

Rich189 07-19-2006 07:14 AM

personally for a mostly track car id go blower....i just have a thing for blower motors.... turbos may be cool and practical and fast as all hell but i still get a hardon for a blower over a turbo

*edit* but if u decide to go turbo and u still want to build a blower motor ill donate my while u rebuild mine :}

i dont think you will benefit from a faster spooling turbo on the track, for a track car you want the turbo to begin spooling really high up in the powerband.

would he sell me the blower for the same price??? ;)

Tsar 07-19-2006 04:45 PM

want big single turbos? check supra forums, they got plenty most likely.

It is way easer to control the power from a blower car, than a turbo car and a blower car will run on anything, fuel wise, if its an automatic the convertor speed will hurt you for street driving a turbo, and if its stick the motor speed to race it competively you will always be braking parts from high RPM starts, street turbos are fun because you almost always have a on the go kind of race thing going good luck pricy eather way jz

Will the turbo setup be injected or carb?

project89 07-23-2006 10:44 AM

injected.prolly with a accel dfi system

the car is a 5-speed and i believe he has a launch program he can use to build up boost off the line. and trust me, dave is used to breaking stuff, i highly doubt thats even a concern for him

Turbo all the way then! 6-71 have alot of grunt down stairs but run out of steam up top compared to turbo setup or even a centrifugal charger..

2. alot of money
3. reliability

project89 07-23-2006 03:46 PM
