Um... just found some strange bones in my yard?

Found them while digging out a fence post... actually only found one in that hole, but about 2' away I had my driveway dug up and made wider... after finding the first one and not really thinking anything of it, I was walking back to the shed and noticed ANOTHER one sitting ontop of the pile of dirt they took out for my driveway.
Now these are pretty big bones, the larger one measures 4.2 inches long... they almost look like some sort of vertibre. Any ideas here?

Just stay at your computer, the FBI is on their way

Firebird67dude 07-31-2006 06:45 PM

I say either cow bones or horse bones.

79CamaroDiva 07-31-2006 06:45 PM

uhhhh... if the FBI don't show up im sure national geographic will.

Firebird67dude 07-31-2006 06:48 PM

Human bones turn a blackish color. Ever notice in pics of mummy bones they are a black color? Well your bones arent. Deff either cow bones or horse bones. Seems right for south jersey, and oviously they have been there for a while so if they were human bones they'd be black in color.

BABY KILLER!

Rob WS6 07-31-2006 06:53 PM

Whats wierd is that they seem to have been cut perfectly in half from each other... granted these two bones dont perfectly lign up with each other. I would say these were maybe from a steak, but damn Ive never seen a steak with bones this big!

Ian 07-31-2006 06:54 PM

definitely animal bones

Firebird67dude 07-31-2006 06:55 PM

A cow got butchered and then cooked up n aten n then a dog carried them off and buried them meaning to save them for later but forgot they were there.

Rob WS6 07-31-2006 07:00 PM

Savage_Messiah 07-31-2006 07:01 PM

WayFast84 07-31-2006 07:37 PM

Savage_Messiah 07-31-2006 07:43 PM

Alien bones.

enRo 07-31-2006 07:44 PM

Jimmy Hoffa?

Rob WS6 07-31-2006 07:59 PM

Maybe Hoffa was an alien!

Seriously though, If anyone knows what they are that would be cool!

Rob WS6 07-31-2006 08:00 PM

The whole Hoffa thing would make sense though... cut up bones, you decide? ;)

BigAls87Z28 07-31-2006 10:14 PM

I would say they are cow bones. They are cut with a pretty sharb object, and around the vertibre, probably to cut the ribs for the sides of beef. Take a look at a slab of beef, they ribs are cut right a the spine.
Maybe someone bought them to use as decoration, and just burried them in the end.
That, or you are on some ancient animal burrial ground where Native Americans preformed rituals with animals, and if you burry your dead pets there...well...just watch the movie.

misterjuice 07-31-2006 10:21 PM

Could be the bone of a Chubacabra.....

NJSPEEDER 07-31-2006 10:36 PM

um...yeah i'd like to throw down my ******** card on this one... bones are bones, human bones dont change a different color from any other. And for your information... mummies have blacked "bones" due to the reason there is still skin on them, hence the fact they are mumified remains, not just bones.... if they were just bones, they would be called skeletons, not mummies.

maroman88 07-31-2006 11:20 PM

i vote with paul on that one, i watch alot of those court TV shows lol
