Low milage 69 TA on Ebay

Another 69 TA surfaces. This one has a red interior? Says its PHS documented.

USA FTW! It's red, white and blue!

OMG! You guys have that other thread for what car you would get rid of yours for... I would definitely sell my Firehawk in a minute for this. Hell, maybe even a kid if I had one. The 69 T/A has always been in my top 5.

Current bid: US $95,100.00
Reserve not met

I expect the reserve to be @130,000 maybe a little more. Nice car nonetheless

Amazing. I like Firebirds, but there is no way I would spend that much on a 69. Well, I suppose if I was a billionaire I would, but I'd rather get me a top 'o the line c6 brandy new. If it was a 'cuda, then I'd consider.

You have to check your normal car buying thought process at the door, and you need deep pockets. Guys certainly aren’t buying that car for performance (compared to today’s cars). These guys buy these for investments, albeit rather speculative, as the muscle car market could drop like a rock, like the exotic car market did in the 80s. The current Vette will never be looked at like these old muscle cars. They are not all that interesting. They are just great.

Aren’t there a very small number of actual 69 Trans Ams, like than 100 or something goofy like that?

697 '69 T/As i believe, 520 w/ manual trans

There were a total of 697 Trans Ams built in 1969: 689 were coupes, 8 were convertibles. It's exactly what you said, a car like this is a strict investment. 69 T/As bring a lot at auction, and you can only imagine what a ragtop goes for.

some guy in wayne is selling a forrest green 79 TA, looks gorgeous except for two lil spots of rust. 27 or 29k miles (it has something bigger then a 400 in it, dude said it has somewhere around 400 horses) he wants 12 grand for it, i gave him a flyer and one for one of his friends

BonzoHansen 08-02-2006 05:07 PM

Ok then, it is the ragtops that I was thinking of, although 697 is not a lot. Still more than the 602 678 Z28s.

from 4k to 97k... smells fishy. also, one of one with the red interior? sounds fishy. if it smells like fish, looks like fish and sounds like fish... it must be fish.

i guess i can't discount it just because it has a red interior, but i am gonna anyway. also, that is way too much money for that car, regardless of it being a proported one of one. the car prices are definitely out of control and ready for a crash. hey, jeff, is that jl8 done yet? :)

LS1Hawk 08-03-2006 10:02 AM

Oh yeah, with this particular car there's definitely questions to be asked, like I would want to know if that's a rebuilt engine. Or maybe it's the only red interior because the owner put it in himself. But in general, a mint 100% legit 69 TA is worth a lot.

JL8Jeff 08-03-2006 10:19 AM

The car is a documented 1 of 1 red interior 69 TA. Nothing fishy and it won't be cheap to buy. The car market is nowhere near a crash and unfortunately my JL8 still isn't done yet. I bet this TA is looking to get in the $150K range. Non number's matching Yenko Deuce's are selling for $175K and same with non number's matching COPO 427 cars. Non original JL8 cars with non GM crossram's have already sold for over $200K as well. That's why I bought my 70 L78 car while it was still "affordable". They will go through the roof within 6 months. Only 600 made and not many #'s matching documented cars left. As for this TA with red interior, it's not the easiest combination to look at with the blue stripes, but somebody will buy it.

WildBillyT 08-03-2006 10:20 AM

PHS has this documented IIRC.

chevyt454 08-03-2006 03:39 PM

Someone's going to get it for a cool 100 grand.
