wierd

alright after having problems with ym ign system, replacing the dizzy/pickup coil/ coil.and still having problems i decided to check the plugs/wires.
the first cyl i did was #6 i pull the wire off and the conector seperated from the wire.no big deal, but when i pulled the plug it was white.not lean white, but like out of the box new white,a few of th eother wires broke but all the plugs came out a nice tan color.i fixed all the plug wires reinstalled the plugs swaping the #6&5 plugs.started the car.it still idled smooth.but when i go under boost im back firing into the intake.

my ? is if the fuel injector is dead in #6 would th ecar still idle/run smooth.and would the plug be clean.and could this also be the cause of my backfiring

backfiring into the intake is a classic lean issue problem... probably due to running very small injectors for your setup with no tune

only cyl #6 had a clean plug, and by clean i mean it looks like it was never in a motor(package fresh). All the othe rplugs were the prper tan color

if u really think its a bad inejctor, swap its position and see if the plug comes out different after running it a bit, and maybe stick a timing light pickup on #6 wire, just to make sure you are getting spark there

project89 08-18-2006 11:20 PM

yeah it get spark, dont know if th eplug is working though, imm gonna swap the spark plug tom when i can walk over to the parts store.the thing that gets me is
the car idles smooth, and runs smooth until i get to about 6-7 psi of boost then it starts poping back threw the intake.
thinking maybe it was pre ignition i evcen pulled an additional 6 degrees of timming at idle.was running 12* base timing now im running 6* base timming.
it even pops back threw the intake with the est unhooked

ok since u guys have no idea'a on this im gonna swap out the plugs/wires tom,if that dosent fix it,it has to be the injector.anything other then that is gonna have to be a busted pistion or ring( i really hope not ive bene looking foward to running at the nats for some time now
