FS: 400 Long Block / TH350

I'm starting from scratch with a fresh block so here's what I have for sale:

Chevy 400 c.i.d. long block:
Casting # - 3951509 (2 bolt main, high nickel content)
Engine ID # - F0305TLS
Stock nodular iron crank (3.75" stroke), rods and pistons

Stock heads:
Casting # - 3973493
1.94 Intake valves
1.5 Exhaust valves
76cc chambers

TH350 trans inlcudes:
Lines
Torque Converter
Flex plate

Installed Extras:
Fuel pump
Starter
Water Pump
Balancer
Pulleys
Oil pump, pickup and pan

I bought this drivetrain already assembled in October of last year. It had been recently rebuilt and was being used in a Tri-Five Nomad and it ran and shifted beautifully. The only changes I made were to remove the carb, intake, distributor and valve covers. I paid $1600 for both the engine and trans. I'm asking for $1000 but will consider any offers. Pick-up only in Trenton, NJ. PM me for pictures.

Brian

Nah, I don't think I'd ever find one cheap enough and I already have way too many parts for the 406 to start from a different platform. I'd just rather get a fresh 400 block and go from there (unless a really good deal came my way). A T-56 is still in the works, though.

How much for just the shortblock? Has it been punched over or stock bore?

I'd really rather keep the motor and tranny together, but if you make a decent offer on it I'll give you just the short block. The engine has had at least one rebuild so I doubt it's a stock bore but I don't know for sure. If you're serious about making an offer on the short block, I can remove the heads and you can come over and take a look at it.
