ELECTRIC CAR WHAT HAPPEND!!??
THIS IS PROBABLY THE SADDEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN ..... PLEASE SPEND THE TIME TO DOWNLOAD THESE LINKS
I have a new respect for GM now..... http://i9.tinypic.com/498ep10.jpg it will take you approx 5 hours to complete because it's rapidshare click free once you are finished downloading 1 file you have to wait about 120 minutes for the next... use win rar to extract these files and convert them into a complete file.... "THIS VIDEO DOES WORK" http://videos.streetfire.net/video/d...510135a520.htm -----------------------700 MB-------------------------------- http://rapidshare.de/files/35228109/...le.C.part1.rar http://rapidshare.de/files/35238689/...le.C.part2.rar http://rapidshare.de/files/35234143/...le.C.part3.rar -----------------------700 MB-------------------------------- The year is 1990. California is in a pollution crisis. Smog threatens public health. Desperate for a solution, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) targets the source of its problem: auto exhaust. Inspired by a recent announcement from General Motors about an electric vehicle prototype, the Zero Emissions Mandate (ZEV) is born. It required 2% of new vehicles sold in California to be emission-free by 1998, 10% by 2003. It is the most radical smog-fighting mandate since the catalytic converter. With a jump on the competition thanks to it speed-record-breaking electric concept car, GM launches its EV1 electric vehicle in 1996. It was a revolutionary modern car, requiring no gas, no oil changes, no mufflers, and rare brake maintenance (a billion-dollar industry unto itself). A typical maintenance checkup for the EV1 consisted of replenishing the windshield washer fluid and a tire rotation. But the fanfare surrounding the EV1's launch disappeared and the cars followed. Was it lack of consumer demand as carmakers claimed, or were other persuasive forces at work? Fast forward to 6 years later--the fleet is gone. EV charging stations dot the California landscape like tombstones, collecting dust and spider webs. How could this happen? Did anyone bother to examine the evidence? Yes, in fact, someone did. And it was murder. |
:twak: Its a known fact that I "hate" the environment, so I wont waste my time.
|
This appears to be a GM/automaker bashing movie, but you have new respect for GM? I'm not gonna waste that much of my time pirating a movie. Someone give me the executive summary version of this please?
I do know the ZEV madate was evetually lowered and I think killed - since it was impossible to hit. Kalifornia sucks. |

the ultimate deciding factor is the consumers. we didnt want electric cars so they didnt make electric cars. thats pretty much the whole story. |

Yeah, it rips into GM pretty hard.

*FACT - more than 3/4 the running cars back in the 30's were running by electric, oh by the way "I dare" you to watch this movie |
sooo sell your pos t/aclone and buy a honda insite, it will make everyone happier
|
jake is right. the electric cars were consumer flops. most were underpowered, all had very limited range, and the charge times were way too long. not to mention they were outragiously expensive.
there is a lot of research going back into electric vehicles, but most of it is more along the lines of how most modern submarines and large ships run. that is with an engine of some sort basically rolling a little above idle to turn a generator, sending power to the props. hybrid/generator side technology should be the next great step in enviromental awareness and fuel economy. if only we coudl get the hippy's to back off this ******** ethonol fad maybe we would get to see it in our lifetimes. |
you guys have it all wrong to respond to fuel cells let me explain this....
you need 5 miracles for a hydrogen fuel cell 1. Current fuel cell car costs $1,000,000 2. Not enough room for hydrogen fuel 3. Hydrogen fuel is expensive 4. Need fueling infrastructure 5. Competing technologies must not improve * IE Hybrid Hybrid has twice the range of a current vehicle *still using fossel fuel OIL If battery technology keeps steadily getting better than the best hybrid than the plugin hybrid in 2020 will be vastly superior to the best HYDROGEN car Just because a lot of people want it to work its no guarantee..... that's disney land wishing makes it come true, THIS ISN'T Disney Land BAIT AND SWITCH what if fuel cells dont work? "CBRMIKE = Dip" my car is not a TA clone :-) stop trying to harass my sexyness |

Also battery technology has drastically changed since 1996 Ovonic had developed a practical EVERYDAY use battery for the EV-1 GM failed to use these batteries in the beginning purchasing the patent using "AC Delco" which we all know the effects of AC Delco *IE Stereo equipment*...... that's a failure on GM's Part not the battery industry at the time CHEVERON PURCHASED CONTROL OF THE Ovonic batteries LASTING LONGER THAN THE LIFE OF A MILLION MILE CAR .... from GM the electric vehicle is not for "everybody" given the limited range it can only meet the needs of 90% of the people A typical maintenance checkup for the EV1 consisted of replenishing the windshield washer fluid and a tire rotation. GM Quietly Dismantled the EV-1 project since, going from the highest waiting list down.... why would automakers such as Toyota, GM, Honda etc. be destroying and hiding the destruction of NEW "E"lectric "V"ehicles |
a few celebs do not = the consumer public.
the technology of a purely electric vehicle is so range and cost restricted that it is still very unrealistic for the general public. |

"DETAILS IN VIDEO" |
no offence but no one will download the video, and if they do props to them..

You are drinking the kool-aid.
That, like the al gore movie, michael moore movies, or that supersize me movie, is not a documentary. It is a movie designed to make you agree with the movie maker. It is sometimes called propaganda. The nazis were good at that too. With any infomation you get, always review the source of the info. The source leads to the money. And the money is the truth. Be skeptical. Look at the new California energy law that is proposed. The major financing behind the group fighting it is oil companies. But the major contributors for passing it are major investors of alternative energy. I also agree, if you feel that strongly, get out of the gas hog game and put your $$ where your mouth (and heart?) is and go buy a Prius or something. Don't be like every other dick trying to tell me what to do (like relgious people with sex problems, or the head of the senate ethics committee sexually harassing teenagers), actually practice what you preach. |
