New sales tax...

I assume that also applies to taxes charged when getting a putting a title in your name right? If so that sucks. I didn't care about the tax increase since I live in PA..but now that I'm registering the vette in NJ it sucks :D

yup...extra penny on the dollar.

Teds89IROC 10-13-2006 11:44 PM

My mom's b/f got the loan for me since his credit is ridiculous(5.8% on a used car is kick ass) so the car is going in his name...and he lives in NJ ;)

All happened within a month or so ;)

I'll own another Fbody...this deal on the vette was just too damn good to pass up.

WildBillyT 10-14-2006 06:19 AM

Did you buy it from a dealer or private party? Did they fill out how much you payed on the back of the title?

Frosty 10-14-2006 06:21 AM

Private...and of course I'm fudging the sale price figure ;)

WildBillyT 10-14-2006 06:26 AM

Hey, I didn't say it ;)

Jersey is starting to do something about the fudging thing...i heard about it on NJ101.5 a couple of weeks ago...what they apparently going to do is charge you tax on what the vehicle is worth, not what you bought it for...yes i know thats bs so don't even say it...do a search im sure theres something on the net somewhere about what they are planning.

Frosty 10-14-2006 11:44 AM

Anything for more $$$.

The DMV shouldn't be able to do that. They're not qualified to judge a vehicle's value.

I couldn't register it anyway...now they need something notorized from the bank in SC(previous owner lived in SC). This has been one big cluster**** since day 1. I should've just kept the Camaro lol

WayFast84 10-14-2006 12:48 PM

i guess third gens just went up in value right? lol

DMV has been doing that for years. A friend of mine got a bill from DMV in the mail because they said he underpaid taxes based on sale amount. He had to prove that is what he paid, although I don’t remember how he did it. This was at least 5 years ago.
