rear brakes

so i converted to disk on the 97, i now have the right e-brake cables now and noticed that the brakes dont lock when i pull on the handel at a roll from idle. arent they supposed to lock or am i mistaken. any help would be appreciated.

They should lock unless you are going to fast or they are out of adjustment.

Formulalt1 10-24-2006 06:55 AM

Yeah, you have to adjust them otherwise it doesn't put enough tension on the cable.

Draven94blackbird 10-25-2006 03:57 PM

how do i adjust it. if its the alen screw on the caliper its not working because i put it in every position and still nothing

BonzoHansen 10-25-2006 10:38 PM

Isn.t there an adjustment on the cable where the 2 rear cables meet the front one (same as 3rd gens, right?)

Savage_Messiah 10-28-2006 11:49 AM

yea there is a y-block above the rear, that might be it

njfastestcamaro 10-30-2006 09:52 AM

the adujustment i think is under the center concol on the 4 gens

Iroc-z86 10-30-2006 10:09 AM

dont the rear calipers have to adjust first then the ebrake gets tighter? i could be wrong considering this is my first car with 4wdisc.

Draven94blackbird 10-30-2006 05:21 PM

from my understanding there are screws on the calipers that need to be adjusted and the ebrake handel is "automaticly adjusted"

Savage_Messiah 10-31-2006 02:15 AM

by that it means hold the button and yank up/let down the ebrake 3 times

Draven94blackbird 10-31-2006 02:53 PM

exactly
