figured out why im running slower than before !

well, my best time 12.52 @ 111mph 1.83 60' on street tires

now, when i ran at the track a couple weeks ago, 12.66 @ 109mph 1.85 60'
but that time i had my LS6 intake, a cut out and drag radials. im like what the f gives here? i should be faster with those mods!!

So i ran hp tuners tonight, and took the T/A for a ride down the road. i had it scan for a lil while; a "knock sensor circuit voltage low" code pops up. I noticed on the historogram from 3,000 RPM all the way to redline, theres 4 degrees of knock retard Theres no Kr at any other time, just at WOT from 3k all the way to redline. im thinking that would have something to do with my lack of power and slower times that would effect my times even from the start, because i launch at 4500+RPM.

I cant wait till i get my transmission back from T56 rebuilds so I can go get my car tuned by Bill, and he can save the day! lol

nice...bout time you figured out wtf was the problem...get that tranny back in there and go for 11s!!!

Formulalt1 10-26-2006 01:32 AM

Yeah, ignition timing can really kill performance. Good luck getting it all worked out.

Savage_Messiah 10-26-2006 02:35 AM

KR sucks, you have any loose exhaust or anythign that may be banging around and causing it?

qwikz28 10-26-2006 10:16 AM

while your car is down, why not reinstall the ls6 intake since it began after that install? trace it from the root of the problem

foff667 10-26-2006 10:21 AM

yup i mentioned there might be a pinched wire in his other thread in the perf. section.

naw, thats what i thought at first, but not the case, and when i scanned it, it threw a "knock sensor circuit coltage low" code

i might just pull the intake off, or use j0n's idea and find out the resistance to the knock sensors and put a resistor inline so the ecm reads no knock (since i run 93 all of the time)

its not even worth it...since you already have hpt just go into the knock retard stuff and desensitize them if it comes to it...theres like 1 or 2 tables you need to change.

if the pcm sees not enough voltage from the sensor it reverts to some pre-established table that pulls specifically 4* of timing and will do it all the time until that voltage is restored...desensitizing it will only work if the wiring is all good

jon I know that...when i say desensitize in his case I mean turn it off...there are 3 or 4 tables that will pretty much turn them off through settings, but there is no on-off switch in the pcm for this so I call it desensitize in this case but yes its turning them off just as if you were to wire in a resistor.

j0n 10-27-2006 10:33 AM

oh ok nm then...ya cant do that in the lt1 pcm if you have a faulty sensor or faulty wiring which is why i said what i did...i bow before the almighty ls1 tuner!

foff667 10-27-2006 10:43 AM

lol...theres a table that determines the max KR that the computer can pull...you could just move that from the stock #4 to 0 and there ya go...thats your on/off switch at that point...LS1 computers FTW!

Sounds like a sweet idea until i have time to take my intake back off to fix it.

Now, my question is- how do i go about doing that, oh great one?

98tadriver 10-27-2006 10:31 PM

i believe i fixed it temporarily). thanks bill! Bill and HP tuners ftw!!

scanned it, no codes. was gonna use the poor man's dyno (my backroads) but its awfully wet out and sideways in 4th gear isnt for me!!
