custom or what sub box?
I want a sub box that will go in the part that is oposite the spare tire on the drivers side. I know jake has something like im talking about but im not sure what side it is on. If its not jake, idk who, but it looks SWEET..

A few companies make them for 4th gens, but AFAIK no one makes one for a third gen. It would have to be custom made

FasterThanYou has a custom setup like you're talking about I believe. Good luck getting in touch with him though. Just measure up the dimensions and fab something up.

that space has is huge, it would be easy to make up something that fit there. i would suggest looking into a way to make sure the plastics are held secure or have something on them to prevent rattles. thirdgen interiors do not fit together very tight and i would think moving all that air around behind them would lead to many unwanted noises.
good luck with it! |

i have a q-logic box that fits in the well and has the molded plastic top that matches the 3rd gen interior, not what your talkin about doing but it is a custom 3rd gen thing:) i have my amp and cap hidden underneath it so it looks factory

heres one on each side for a third gen but i know they make them for 4th gen too ill look into it cause i know on EPFBA we were talking abut it...
heres a guy on tgo tha built them for his thirdgen http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...lliantbox2.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...riliantbox.jpg here is bow94z's setup in his fourth gen http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/HPIM0151.jpg heres the place that makes em http://www.subthump.com/acamaro.htm Firebird67dude... they are usually taken out when you go racing and things. it only takes a few minutes. |
they definitely make boxes for a 3rd gen, i bought mine off of ebay for about 100 bucks and looks and sounds great
|
no we were sayin the ones that are in the spare tire well and the "glove box" on the left rear...
but what kind of quality are the ones on ebay? cause i didnt like them so i built my own for my z, but my girl wants one now for her forebird and i dont feel like makin it again lol |
I guess that would work, But what do I do with the plastics? I want it to go in the "glove box" side. so I can bring my spare if I need it.
|
Your plastics would have to be modified if you were gonna build a box like that.
I think you would be better off getting a pair of subs that are designed to work well in open air, and mount them on a plate that goes over your well. Easy to build, easy to move out of the way if you want to store anything in there. - Justin |
i agree to say away from the one in the "glove box" but id stay away from plates too...
a plate is good if you just want the boom factor, but the bass is all over the place in every range if you get a sealed box, you lose space under it but you have good sounding bass, its all a matter of personal preference |
