Ian 12-30-2006 05:26 PM

foff667 12-30-2006 05:30 PM

Savage_Messiah 12-30-2006 07:26 PM

Damn my Honda puts out more HP..lol j/k but not about the Honda.

r0nin89 12-30-2006 10:41 PM

Wow I'm pretty sure a 5.0L stang should give you a 250hp base. They are definatly more powerful than an L98 out of the factory and thats like 230hp. Somethings up.

GP99GT 12-30-2006 10:48 PM

maybe its the dyno, i dont know. there was a pretty worked 80s regal there too, with a 350, cammed, not sure what else...only put down 250. ill mess with it through the winter, then in march at TTP we'll see whats up

NJSPEEDER 12-30-2006 10:48 PM

L98 was 235 for a few years then upped to 245. the best the mustang got was 235 rated in '87 that was actually rated lower in 89 when they went to a mass air system.
f-body > mustang again :)

GP99GT 12-30-2006 10:58 PM

the mustang was also lighter i believe...so it evened out

NJSPEEDER 12-30-2006 11:03 PM

the LX's were lighter than most f-bodies. you coudl option an LX to weigh as much or more, but most didn't get that treatment. the fox GT's were actually very close in weight to similar year f-bodies. between upgraded/heavier suspension parts, more power features, and the extensive body kit, the GT options did more to slow the car down than inspire the performance image it was intended to represent.
most mustangs also came with less gear than comparable f-bodies. where gm was dropping 3.23's or 3.42's into most formula/trans am/z28 models, ford was putting 3.08's and 2.73's into most of their V8 equiped cars.

r0nin89 12-30-2006 11:06 PM

Hmmm this makes me think the only reason I thought that was because the 5.0 is such a good platform to build on... I just remember my cousins 5.0 that I thought was pretty stock feeling as ballzy as my dad stingray.

GP99GT 12-30-2006 11:08 PM

oh well. heads/cam 306 what?

Teds89IROC 12-31-2006 12:03 AM

at least it sounds good

GP99GT 12-31-2006 12:06 AM

yeah thats cause my muffler fell off last night on the drive home...halfway...so i took the other one off for good measure. open h-pipe ftw

ford FTL once again

Teds89IROC 12-31-2006 12:34 PM

the biggest hp mods my L98 had at the time it was dynoed was used leaky flowtech shorty headers (****) with a catted y-pipe (2" to 3"), maganflow 3" cat-back, MSD blaster coil, MSD wires, new factory heads, airfoil (probably not much hp gain) air pump delete and thats pretty much it. I made 210 hp,290 tq at the wheels and I later discovered this "spark enhancer" I had on there (got it fior free) was throwing spark out, so I'm sure that held me back some.

BigAls87Z28 12-31-2006 04:19 PM

5.0hhhh that sucks...Maybe if you left the stock drag lights and 4 inch cowl hood, you would be making REAL power.

unstable bob gable 12-31-2006 04:44 PM

347 stroker FTW!
