1000+HP 4 cylinder...
The Feb issue of Hot Rod has a really good article about a land speed car built by Rad Rides by Troy. The car is based on a 69 Barracuda, and is powered by a Mopar Performance 175 CI turbocharged 4 cylinder. The engine dynoed at 1,030 HP @ 8000 RPM and 680 lb-ft of torque @ 8000 RPM. These numbers were achieved with 20 lbs of boost. The engine has the ability to run as much as 35 lbs of boost @ 9,500 RPM! The car has already set records at Bonneville by running over 255 MPH, and they will be shooting for top speeds over 300 MPH in the future to become the fastest "doorslammer" in the world. Def cool stuff! Here's a link to the car at Bonneville: http://www.radrides.com/saltflats.php

Phenomenal machine...and a true work of art.
Also interesting in the same issue is the mention of the Summers Brothers' Goldenrod car being fixed up and put in the HF Museum w/ 4 new "old"426 Hemis! |
ive seen a 2.3 4 cylinder in a mustang with a massive turbo running in the low nines so it must be close to 1000 HP, did damn good wheelies!!
