rear help

i have a 80 camaro i allso have a 69 camaro i was wondering if the 80 camaro posi rear would fit in the 69 camaro i want to do the rear swap asap

No. They are different lengths and the leaf mounts are in different places. I'd have to go look the numbers up though.

Edit: The '67 to '69 Camaro leaf spring perches are 42 1/2 inches center to center. The '70 to '81 Camaro and Firebird leaf spring perches are 45 1/4 inches center to center.

Edit2: The 2nd gen rear is 1" wider.

i might as well keep the 69 camaro stock

What is in the 69, an 8.2" 10 bolt?

You can get 8.5 rears out of (IIRC) 72 & up Novas and similar. Posi units can be added later if you find one w/o it.

2nd gen posi with a few bucks to sell. You might even be able to trade with someone else with the wrong rear. I see this question a lot.

Also, someone might want a proper date coded 8.2 for a Camaro, so that might not be worthless as it seems. I would double check the rear to make sure it was never swapped. 38 years is a long time with the same rear. :)

You still want to verify what rear is in it.

Right. Find out what type of rear it is, and what the codes are on the passenger side axle tube.

Mono or multi leaf springs?
