enRo 01-16-2007 05:56 PM

Trans Am? Why does it have the formula spoiler??? Nonetheless, good looking car... free bump to the top for ya

Bandit 01-16-2007 06:00 PM

315rwhp just from the mods listed? I would like to see the dyno sheet on that.

98tadriver 01-16-2007 06:20 PM

my buddys 96 LT1 T/A M6 with LTs ory, borla catback (with golfball sized hole in restrictor plate) and CAI made 288rwhp and 323 rwtq

288 is about right for a LT1, not 315 rwhp ( thats about what you would make with the LT4 kit ) Plus its an A4. I would guess the car makes 275-280 max if that.

98tadriver 01-16-2007 06:38 PM

Nobody is trying to hijack the thread or talk bad about ya.. Its just that when you say it has 315+ hp, people wanna see the dyno sheet, so they know you arent estimating the hp or trying to BS them. its nothing personal :)

JerzLT1 01-16-2007 10:16 PM

when you say no major problems what do you mean by that?

Stacy13 01-17-2007 07:27 AM

Let me break the #'s down for you.
Base HP for '95 TA = 275
HP for Hooker Catback= 7-12
HP for CAI & throttle bypass= 6-10
HP for Hi flow Cat & Borla Y pipe Combo= 5-8
HP for PCM power tuning=5-10
HP for 160 stat=2 maybe
So if we add the base numbers here to the original 275 we get 300, and 317 for high end numbers.
This all looks good on paper and is a good estimate, but "BANDIT", you're correct, without a Dyno, it's all bragging rights. Most early 4th gen's didn't even make the 275 mark in dyno tests. I can tell you this, that with these mods and Bryan's aggressive tune, this car is quick.

As for the "no major problems" when i bought this car back in 2002, the only problem it had and still has, is the infamous intake manifold leak. For the past 5 years now, this car drips one or two drops of oil each day. I know because I keep cardboard under it in my garage and regularly check it. IMO, it's not worth sinking in $800+ to have it repaired, especially since it had not gotten any worse unless of course, internal mods are in the agenda.

Forgot to mention, but I recently replaced the rear diff cover with a stronger Summit cover and used Royal Purple fluid along with the GM additive since it has 2.73's with 80k miles.

Lastly, I'm considering giving this car to a family member if I can't sell it, since it's in such great shape, reliable, relatively low mileage and still gets attention with this exhaust setup.
Keep the questions coming or PM me for viewing.
Tom

Just so some people dont get confused, that 300-317 hp numbers are FLYWHEEL HP, so with a 15% drivetrain loss(A4 is maybe a lil more even) thats equal to about 255-270 RWHP. The stock LT1s wouldn't hit 275 rear wheel hp on the dyno in almost every case due to the loss through the trans and rear.

But, that is a very nice car i miss my 93. Any pics of the interior? and why the formy hatch?

WayFast84 01-17-2007 04:44 PM

Its a formy hatch because the TA hatch was an option on some early 4th gens.

No hatch options on GM Trans Am's unless it was a Firehawk. 1997,2000 and 2002. Someone had switched it for one reason or another, that alone would make me run the vin# with all my connections for any damage.

Sorry guys, but a family member expressed interest so I'll hold it for now. Thanks for your replies and comments, most of which were interesting to say the least.
As for "Bandit", do your homework next time before you post. This car is a factory base Trans Am model from 1995. GM decided to drop the Trans AM GT image in 1994 along with the wild wing setup and offer it as an option in 1995. So no, your incorrect! This was not added or switched by myself or anyone else.

i would like to thank everyone for adding their unnecessary 2 cents to this ad, seeing how my brother and i really were interested.

sorry all american 1995 "trans ams" had the up sweep wing unless it was a vert. Models exported out of the country had the 94 GT wing. I've owned a few 4th gens and friends with many folks who built them.
