Recovering seats
this weekend i am finally getting my 69 nova:nod: and the interior needs to be re-done, including the seats. right now it has a bench seat in the front but i would rather have bucket seats, is it worth just finding a crappy pair of bucket seats on ebay getting new foam and getting those re-covered? and also would it be more money to re-cover the bucket seats or the bench seat.:?:

I'd get a beat set of buckets and just recover them yourself with the seatcovers they sell. I've done about 4 or 5 sets of Camaro buckets now and it's not that hard. Just spend the money to get the quality hog ring pliers. The cheap ones have a rivet holding them together and you'll be lucky to make it through one seat before they break. Spring loaded hogring pliers make it much easier too.

I know they say let them soften up in the sun to make them easier to install. But it is cold out. I wonder if a few minutes on low temp in a drier might help or hurt.

we did my friends truck many years ago mid-winter by letting the covers sit in front of heating vents around the house for a few hours. not like covering the vents, just spread out so that the hot air would blow across them.

I've done them in the winter with no problems. Just use a hair dryer if they need to be stretched a little.
