Walbro 255 lph Pump/Stock Regulator?

Hey all,
Is it OK to run the Walbro pump with a stock fuel pressure regulator? Application is a TPI motor from an '88 IROC.

yes no problems

Excellent. As soon as the weather gets nicer, the Walbro is going in with a hotwire kit.

What is a hotwire kit?

NJSPEEDER 02-13-2007 09:48 PM

stock wiring in most late models leads to inconsistant power delivery, small wiring and single lead fuse boxes are normally blamed.
the hot wire kit allows for a secondary switched power lead, of large gauge wire, to be run directly to the pump. it delivers more power at a far steadier rate.
it is better for the pump life and more consistant fuel delivery :)

One downside (at least on my GTP) is that the pump always runs in "high" mode. But that's about the only downside. The wiring is upgraded from 18 gauge to 12 gauge, with a heavy duty relay.

Oh, so the way I would wire one on my own. Gotcha.

I have the racetronix kit with the walbro pump and it works great..

Sorry, I just saw this now Steve  I have the walbro 255 with the stock regulator on the IROC and no problems at all
