We went wedding band shopping...

So my dad's girlfriend works for a jewelry shop and told us to shop there. So we stopped by today. James had no idea what to get. So we go in, he looks around, tries some on, and doesn't have a clue. So I say I'll look around and see if I can find one that he can then match. So I find one, first shot, don't like anything else.

Finally he narrows it down to 2, the one I like on him and the one he likes. He finally picked the one he liked better. Ended up being a plain titanium...less weight :)

But good lord, he was mortified. Had no clue what he wanted. And I have a feeling once he starts wearing it, he's going to not like it. lol.

So, any of you guys who will want to be married some day, go start looking and getting an idea of what you like. :)

I'm so glad he doesn't like any of those. :)

WildBillyT 02-20-2007 01:10 PM

I am getting a plain titanium or cobalt one myself. I don't need anything fancy.

firehawk1120 02-20-2007 02:27 PM

I'm actually the more picky of the two of us. We went to the store she liked one almost instantly but needed a little time to be sure. I looked and looked and didn't like anything. I'm just going with the one that is very simple and boring because everything else just looked to damn flashy and I hate that.

The Fixer 02-20-2007 03:57 PM

Mine is very simple; white gold, with a brushed center section and polished edges. James, don't wear the ring when you work on the car!

BonzoHansen 02-20-2007 04:41 PM

Plain gold band. I did step up to the beveled edges.

Untamed 02-21-2007 09:35 AM

Yellow gold band with a white gold center strip in the middle, and beveled edges.

It seems to get tighter each year. ;)

Firebird67dude 02-22-2007 01:43 AM

surfer1316 02-22-2007 07:36 AM

hahaha, I keep scaring the **** outta my girl (figured it's only fair to do the same when she brings up the M word) I'm a big fan of the machined , hand made look and feel of things, give my as some titanium and a lathe, I'll make one

hey give me a chunk of magnisium while u're at it, fun to watch the shavings ignite

Savage_Messiah 02-22-2007 01:34 PM

Just get the lightest one with the highest melting point you can find.

hardline_42 02-22-2007 01:54 PM

I have a tungsten carbide wedding band, brushed center and polished edges. It weighs about a pound, doesn't scratch for anything (I work on the cars with it on all the time) and makes an awesome bottle opener.

Soooooooooooooo true!

When I found out how much the rings cost..... I told her we could have gotten a nitrous kit plus all the extra bits (warmer etc)

I just got a look from her

STAY AWAY FROM TITANIUM!!!! in case of an emergency, titanium cannot be cut without taking half your finger off. God forbid you drop something heavy on that finger or slam it in a doorjam and it swells up, you can basically kiss that finger goodbye. i'm warning you please, stay away from titanium rings.

Yea, that's part of the reason that I decided not to get the titanium wedding band that I was looking at.

Of course for James, that would just be more weight reduction.

simple... just replace with carbon fiber finger, rod end joints, done.

ShitOnWheels 02-23-2007 12:44 PM

He won't be wearing the ring when he is doing work that could potentially cause damage to the ring itself or to the finger. So when working on the car, yard work, playing with fire etc etc, he's not allowed to wear it. I do the same with my engagement ring...anything that could get it dirty, damaged, or cause me harm I take it off.

firehawk1120 02-23-2007 12:49 PM

just get a tattoo of a ring this way it's cheaper and none of this injury stuff really matters at that point. LOL

So what you are saying is that (given his track record with injury) he's prolly not really ever gonna wear the ring? At least not when he's awake.....
