He is going to do more than lose his job. Big corporations have a lot of legal measures in place to punish people who release sensitive information to the public. As an example, when I worked at General Electric I signed a 7 page "information act" which included instructions on how I was supposed to act in the company of people who worked for a competitor. This dude is probably in serious legal trouble.

i would not doubt it, nor would it surprise me
there are also companies that require people that sign on to A not release info and B they're legally bound not to work for the competition for a set period of time

Without getting into specifics, I am aware of somebody who got put away for A, and someone who is in legal trouble over B. You are absolutely correct. Information protection is very serious.
