3 Kids die in Street Race

I dont know if it made the papers, but 3 kids died in Neptune last night in a street race on 33. One of them was a tech at my old store, and his brother used to bring his cars to us for alignments. The two kids in the other car, one is in critical with broken legs, fractured skull and pelvus, the other guy came away fine. The kid in critical doesnt look good.
I know some people will continue to do it, and we all like street fun here and there, but its just sad to hear such news. I sorta knew the one kid, he was hired after I left. Becareful.

Saw it on fox about an hour ago...

We have 3 racetracks in NJ .... cant they pick one and race there? Sucks that it happened, maybe people will realize to keep that kinda **** off the street and on the racetrack.

GREZ28 03-15-2007 07:23 PM

And that is why we have E-town & Atco raceway etc. Never on the streets for the reason that I have also lost a part of family for this reason.
It only takes one time 4 something to go wrong.

I totally agree with you!! I'd rather pay $13 to race at the track then die

johnjzjz 03-15-2007 07:50 PM

very stupid people do very stupid things today yesterday and tomorow -- thank God no little ones were hurt as well -- who cares about the ja$kass racing -- jz

Bandit 03-15-2007 08:01 PM

5 dead kids in the last 2 weeks because they don't know how to drive.. Don't horse around the cops are going to crack down on speeding cars now.

Fast92RS 03-15-2007 08:14 PM

What a shame.....:|

JerzLT1 03-15-2007 10:24 PM

now they need to make it ok to run bikes and cars at atco

Rich189 03-15-2007 10:48 PM

well im thankful that no one else got hurt its sad to see people died but they knew the risk getting into a race on the street like the others said thats why we have tracks...but then again im guilty of messing around on deserted backroads every once in awhile granted theres no one else in my car and no one else around when i do

slugger27nj 03-16-2007 05:59 AM

Unfortunately there was someone else hurt because of these idiots. The driver of the 3rd car involved was not part of the race. He's still in the hospital, but in stable condition. There's an updated story on app.com today.

Hey you ever raced a bike at the track you would know thats a bad idea - a real drag bike has no ability to steer out of the way and if bumped will you get the idea -- re think that idea -- jz

see, i was gonna say, the cliche
1. s*** happens, people die
2. at least they died doing something they loved
3. that doesnt count when theres a bystander involved, now that turns the story sad

Not to sound cold or trying to be rude to you...

But it's more then just an innocent bystander getting killed. That’s just this time. But because there have been so many high speed related accidents they’re talking about putting a commission together to examine the problem. They are already talking about banning modifying cars and mandating a speed governor. So because of people playing fast and furious on busy highways all of us could be effected.

So it's not OK they died doing what they wanted too? Because those of us that like modding our cars to go fast but do use common sense when on the road are being lumped together with those that do stupid stunts like this.

baddest434 03-16-2007 12:29 PM

the only person i feel bad for is the innocent lady that was making a turn. those other a******* got what they deserved. who cares.....dumbasses

79CamaroDiva 03-16-2007 12:35 PM

like noah said, we have 3 tracks in nj, the only day of the week that none of them are open is monday.. this is the reason that we have race tracks. the state police are actually working with the 3 tracks to get a street legal program joining all 3 of us together.. im trying to work with local municipalities for island as well.. but no matter what, we'll never be able to stop all of them.

DieselKickYoAss4Sure 03-16-2007 01:01 PM

must have been ricers! nobody is gona put a speed govenors on cars thats dumb!

qwikz28 03-16-2007 01:51 PM

i feel bad for the families of the racers. anyone who has sat through a parent burying a child will understand why. there is no way to make up for the loss of the child that you raised and was supposed to outlive you. it is a horrible thing to watch, i can't imagine having to go through it.

I hate stupid thinking like that. The kid was driving a Honda, why not outlaw Hondas? Are they going to ban Z06's because they will do 190+? I hate knee-jerk reactions. :-x

Tim, you're right, there are many 'vicitims' in this.

Damn, that kid had a vehicular rapsheet a mile long.

surfer1316 03-16-2007 02:42 PM

give me ****, hate me for saying it, but..

I feel horrible for the lady, but the dumbasses got what they deserved. there's no reason they should be racing on public streets, and taking their, their passengers, and everyone's else's lives into their hands. and their parents get to deal with raising a couple dip****s

This is a fine example of darwinism at it's finest

BigAls87Z28 03-16-2007 04:51 PM

The lady that was taking a turn was making an illegal left.

jola 03-16-2007 04:59 PM

I feel bad for everyone involved really. Perhaps those that died while acting in an illegal manner justly reaped the consequences of their actions, but who among us has never raced or made an illegal turn?
