Quick Question about Gages

I'm looking to run a Dual gauge pod in my car. I would like to put Fuel Pressure & an A/F meter in. I was thinking of going with Auto-Meter sport compact gages. How do I go about hooking these up. All I know is there is something attaches to the shroder valve on fuel lines and thats about it. Does the kit come with everything I need? Do I need anything extra? Where do I run the electircal lines?

The cars a 95 LT1 btw.

Don't bother with the A/F meter. It's pretty much just a light show- it reads the voltages from the O2 sensor you attach it to. Regarding the fuel pressure gauge, your best bet there is to get an electrical one or a setup that keeps the fuel out of the passenger compartment. PS - It's a Schrader valve.

I agree the A/F gauge is a waste unless you're buying a top of the line unit.

I just replied to a post in the chas/elec section on how I did my wiring.

The 93s are a little different, maybe Engineer will jump in as he would know the exact threads of your fuel rail. But, I think you'll need to get an adapter to go onto the schrader valve. But, I didn't like the idea of having the sending unit sitting on top of a hot engine should it fail, so I used a 2' braided fuel line off the schrader valve so I could locate the sending unit away from the hot engine. I built a housing back behind the ECM so that if the sender was to ever fail the fuel would leak down the wheel well and no onto the hot engine or exhaust.

Behind the ECM is a large grommet that the wiring harness passes thru the firewall, you can sneak the wires in through there. You'll need to remove the pass. kick panel to pull the wires.

The A/F is useless unless you go with one of the high end units. I had the triple pillar in my car and ran the fuel press, oil press, and a digital tach. I might still have the pillar if you're interested.

another vote for A/F is useless unless you get a good gauge and a wideband sensor

Agreed. I have one and its what everyone is saying... useless lmao. Get a wideband setup and call it a day.
