Polish Extension Ladder

So my father owns a hunting lodge down in the Pine Barrens, which we hunt out of every winter, and spend a few weekends at a year. It's in need of a new roof soon, and some of the shingles have fallen off. The most recent visit was during a hunting trip when we discovered water damage inside the house and a large missing section of shingles. Since we had some extra shingles, a hammer, and nails...fixing it was obvious. So on day 2 after coming out of the woods for lunch empty-handed we got to work.

1st problem...the roof is a very extreme angle, so standing on the roof is not an option. this forces the ladder to be at a very wide angle to the house which causes the...

2nd problem...ladder wont reach the area we need to patch, so naturally we get a stepladder and put it on top of the extension ladder, which is still too short. The final solution is pictured below:

and yes that is me up on the roof in all of my hunting garb

haha just put some blocks under the front wheels and youre good

LOL.

Yeah, it's strange but it worked!

One time when I was changing struts in a press (didn't have a strut compressor on hand) the strut mount wouldn't come off to allow me to take the spring off the strut- it was stuck. So I left it in the press and poked at it with two broomsticks taped together while hiding behind a toolbox. I'm sure I looked ridiculous as hell, but it worked and I didn't take a spring to the face.

and you gave me crap on how i had the car in the air, when I welded my SFC's in my '86

bad64chevelle 04-02-2007 12:19 AM

You know youre a redneck when... Good work! I was welding together part of a green house on friday. The part that needed to be fixed was at the peak, and the ground-connection wouldnt reach it. Easy fix! 1)Place welder in back of truck 2) Drive truck into greenhouse 3) hook everything up 4)realize you left the welding mask up at the barn 5) close your eyes 6) pray you dont weld the greenhouse to the roof of the truck

Those guys are crazy just for coming up with that idea, and you're completely insane for going along with it! :) Next time you're up there, screw some 2x2s across the roof so you can use 'em as foot/hand holds!

polish or not, this easily could have been chalked up to another j0n-esque idea.

...kinda like how your solution for every car problem we come across somehow involves a power-saw.
