R134a Question

I've been searching the net, no luck. What does the A mean in r134a refrigerant? Anybody know? Please enlighten me.

EDIT: Searching for it as well since I'm too curious to let this one go. :) Haven't found the definition for the nomenclature R134a yet.

Yeah i saw that site earlier. Tells you damn near everything else about it but what the actual "A" means. If i find out before you i'll post. I figured someone in here would know.

I think it's just a naming convention. Never heard of any of the numbers/letters actually having specific meaning.

According to a BMW tech friend of mine, R134a is the "part" number for the type of refrigerant that Dupont makes. It doesn't mean anything more than that.
