Dyno tuned today.........
And I have to say for the way the car runs I was disappointed with the numbers, although everybody who dyno's seemed to be low today. I was hoping for 450 to the wheels and would be pleased with 425, but the car fell just short at around 420. Runs great, power curve is spectacular but the numbers were low. I guess since it is a nitrous cam in it I shouldn't be too surprised, especially through an A4, Cats, and a 12 bolt, when the car was heat soaked and with an engine with only 300 miles on it. While I don't think it will go 10's on just the engine I am still optimistic of around 11.2-11.3, and like I said it was built for nitrous, not that I would do that :) . Anyway a little disappointed in the numbers but very pleased with how it runs. I also have to remember when I dyno'd my cam only engine I was disappointed with 367 RWH (M6, no Cats, 10 bolt) and got that motor all the way to 11.7's at full weight. I also think in a couple thousand miles when the engine frees up a little more it will make my 425 goal. So i won't pass judgement until I get to run it at the track, I've never put too much stock in dyno numbers anyway ;)
Best heat soaked pass was 418RWH uncorrected 377 RWT uncorreced Never got any "corrected" numbers and oh yeah it makes 300+ ft lbs from 2200 all the way to redline at 7000. |
i would like to know if the dyno sheet shows the time it took to make the power to the wheels -- that is the real way to use a dyno -- its a tool nothing more -- corrected #s are for the shops that fall short of what a customer was told -- along the side of the sheet it might have a time slot in seconds -- i hope it does ?????? does it -- jz

No unfortunately it doesn't, the engine is pretty rev happy though. I think it will do fine at the track

I'd kill for those numbers! I hope that when the motor breaks in you get the numbers you were searching for!

last good weight was 3845 with a 1/4 tank and driver, it weighed 3755 when it ran 11.7

Congrats on the nice numbers
johnjzjz...mid 11s at around 114mph?... that gets me thinking, i ran 14.0 at 114, hehe no traction and untuned.... with good tires and a tune, i wonder what im capable of. |

YeahI was trapping 116 cam only, like I said we won't know till I actually hit the track

Weather conditions will still affect SAE numbers even though the numbers are SAE. Let me guess, you probably went on the dyno on a day with a low barometer (less than 30 inHg), at least 50% humidity with the temperature at 60+*F? Your dyno operator should have told you to expect lower numbers and to come back in the winter time to get really good numbers.

Temp was 75, barometer was 29.73, humidity 45%

I don't really care about the dyno numbers, I was more interested in getting the A/F correct and it is spot on.
