WOOT!!!!! I kinda have a plan

The plan is to just get the car runing!! But its not all, I made a detailed list of what needs to be done, and What i need to purchase or still pay for.

*indicates what I need to pay for/purchase.

Find a reputable shop, Drill steam holes,Machine seats, install springs, and screw in studs* NO PORTING----Completed!! waiting on completion

Get an engine hoist DONE
Put motor on a stand

Make a ghetto A/C delete box

Install--
Heads
Cam
Intake
Oil pump* Pan*
Water pump
Pulleys
Shift kit
T/C lock up
T/Converter
Tranny cooler*
Motor
Spark plugs*
Distributor
Headers
Plug wires
Carb
Radiator
New hoses*
Electric fan*
Y pipe

That should be enough to get the car runing, I will still need some random gaskets, and I need to pick out rocker arms..

After The car is runing, I can install my hood again, But then I need to do front brakes, and fix my ebrake.

Eventually I will do a rear end, with disk brakes, Shocks, Lowering springs, LCA'S, Sway bars, and subframe connectors.

On my list I also wrote a note to my self..

"Have fun, Follow the list In the order of subgroups(not displayed in the thread) Dont get mad, Get the car runing, and dont think about E/T's!"

I guess its not bad, even though it took me 2 3/4 years to come up with it!!!

watchoo think?

You know, I cringed when I saw the title of this thread.
I figured it has something to do with a high compression small block using nitrous.

start saving and not wasting $$ on useless things like fast food lunches, dunkin breakfasts, video games, movies. :)

Make a separate savings fund one for car one for you.

hardline_42 05-09-2007 09:50 PM

Now you're talking sense Matt. Stick to the plan, do everything in order and don't let yourself change it! You'll start seeing progress in no time.

Teds89IROC 05-09-2007 09:53 PM

looks good, follow it!

baddest434 05-09-2007 10:18 PM

Why won't you just use Larry already? Do you want me to go over to his shop with you? Are you ever around on Fridays?

Grab one from an S10 at a junkyard - much more common than finding a true camaro/firebird one, and they bolt up just fine.

Yes, he can be taught!

Somewhere in there is an "I told you so". Listen to your elders, boy!

It's already been said, but I'll reitterate - stick to the plan. Make the car go first, then get your license. Drive it and get used to it, get used to NJ streets, NJ laws, and a few gotchas along the way (hot to recover from spin, avoid . THEN worry about racing and all the go-fast goodies you need for it.

Keep going man, you're learning. Hopefully its fun too.

I dropped off my heads today, woah I used hansen racing, The shop was amazing, They had hemis, fords everything, they where dynoing a ford when i got there, and it made UPWARDS of 750Hp!! They had a grand am, runs 8.. I cant wait to go back! They gave us a tour and the amount of equipment they had was amazing,

I updated my list, and I want to thank UBG for the awssome recommendation.

WayFast84 05-27-2007 12:18 PM

Took the starter out, was a pain in the ass, marked the wires, then didnt see one, its a good thing i got a new 1/4 socket wrench last week!, engine hoist is here, thanks to chrisfromnj, i am now clueless on how im going to unbolt the T/C.

any one free tuesday or wednsday to get this old 305 out, and maybe help install the cam on the 400?

there are 3 bolts through the flywheel into the torque convertor. they go from the engine side pointing back. turn the motor so one bolt is right like behind where the oil filter is. youll be able to get a socket and extension on it there and run the extension along the side of the oil pan and use a socket wrench then. once that bolt it out, turn the motor over till the next bolt is in the position, and repeat for the 3rd an final bolt. but remember, the TQ conv. is heavy and full of fluid, so an extra set of hands is always a plus, or at least brace it before the last bolt comes out.

WayFast84 05-27-2007 02:16 PM

so im sitting here in the a/c and i cant get dirty, i figured id put the fuel line on the demon, now Idk if im retarded or if the fuel line is just ****** but i just spent a good half hour and it wont screw in, on either tubes.. Its not something id expect froma $40 fuel line..

How is it "hydrolocked" when it doesn't even have heads on it? There's nothing to stop it from rotating freely.....
