cop buddy was talkin about this the other day, it was at the egg harbor? toll plaza? if i remember correctly.

by the looks of how fast the PD was on scene leades to believe he was being chased. running from the cops FTL he was DOA

87GTA 05-26-2007 11:00 AM

i can't tell what kinda car it was??but man i didn't know it was in NJ

Knipps 05-26-2007 11:03 AM

Fast92RS 05-26-2007 11:42 AM

Yeah thay were chasing that guy. It was the Little Egg harbor toll.

GrandmasterCow 05-26-2007 12:17 PM

bandit88 05-26-2007 03:15 PM

i heard about that again right by my house lol

GP99GT 05-26-2007 04:25 PM

i heard the guy had a history of seizures, including one earlier that day.

BonzoHansen 05-26-2007 04:51 PM

I think that is the one in the news. NJ is looking to sue the company that initially posted it on the web, and will look to prosecute whomever leaked it.

Yeah, WTF, that's what I was thinking! I can't believe people just cruised by like it was a regular occurance to see a flaming car in a toll plaza.

lol... They must thought that happened once a week or something

hardline_42 05-27-2007 10:44 AM

I saw this vid a while ago. The driver was not being chased by the cops. He had a history of seizures and had gone to the hospital earlier that morning. The cop car that pulled up was at a nearby weigh station and saw the crash.

no they werent. initially i thought the same thing, but after reading the news article about it online, it was an older gentleman with a history of seizures and he was on his way home from the hospital. if you have seizures, you SHOULDNT be driving!

I dont think theres too many of us, if anyone here that would stop if you saw a car blow up and it was on fire like that.. Easier said than done. What can you do? get horribly burned and scarred for life trying to save some stranger that was dead or was gonna die anyway? and for what? a cookie and a medal for your bravery and couragious attempt to save a dead man? no thanks. Now, if the car wasnt on fire, yeah id try to help.
Unless the person is in immediate danger of their life you ARENT supposed to pull them out of the car or even touch them. Thats what the EMTs are for. so why even stop to help then? best thing u can do is call 911, thats all the help u can give

maroman88 05-27-2007 11:43 AM

or if you have a mother huge fire extinguisher or happen to be driving a tanker truck filled with water lol

In first aid its

check the scene, and if its safe then the victim
call
care

They teach you not to risk your health to save some one, and if its to dangerous, just call..

well thats what my first aid teacher tough us any way, so yeah I agree with ron..

98tadriver 05-27-2007 11:53 PM

it left the yard like 4 times, 2 or 3 on a tow truck

edit

we put 116 miles on it.

79CamaroDiva 05-28-2007 10:16 AM

its just a good thing that guy hit the toll plaza and not someone else..

SteveR 05-28-2007 11:17 AM

I wander how fast he was going? It looked like he hit pretty damn fast. And there is no way that cop was at a weigh station, saw the crash, went outside, got in his car, and made on scene in 8 seconds. He would have had to have been on the road already, or started after the guy when he saw him fly by way above the speed limit.

79CamaroDiva 05-28-2007 12:56 PM

toll plazas always have cops on duty, i thought he was just one of hte on duty officers there and saw it happen.

Cops say he was doing about 65. As for the cop that showed up, here's what the news articles say:

State Police working a nearby truck-exhaust checkpoint rushed to the scene, only to have their rescue attempt foiled by flames from the burning car.Fire and rescue units quickly arrived at the scene, along with other State Police units.

87GTA 05-30-2007 09:59 PM
