exhaust cutout???
anyone have them on a 3rd gen?
anyone using the mr. gasket pull cord one???? lemme know thanks.... |
im going to be putting an electric one on my 84 camaro very soon. im probably going to get the one that QTP makes. mainly because they are about 10-15min from my house.
|
Third Gen? No. But I used one on a '78 Monte and it was OK. If I remember correctly, you can only get one for a 2" exhaust and the cable starts to stick and get all crudded up.
If you are interested, I'll have a 2.5" cutout and 2.5" electric valve (QTEC) for sale soon... |
Teds putting a 3" On his Iroc, pretty much the installs are the same as far as 3rd & 4th gens go. The best place to isntall a cut-out on one is right before the rear axle. There is a straight part of the pipe before it goes over the axle that will give you plenty of clearance.
ps. I would wait for the Kooks cut-outs to come out. |
::n00b question::
Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but is there any performance gains from having a cutout? As far as i know, they were just put there so you can deafen everybody around you :lol: ::/n00b question:: |
It all depends on the car. I've seen some cars make power with them open, and I've seen cars loose power with them. Generally you'll only see a higher RPM increase of 5-10 hp.
|
over a bone stock exhaust, they make decent power. somewhere ive seen an article about installing a cutout after the cats, before the stock muffler. made i think 15 rwhp. but if you have an exhause already, ie: bullet muffler, highflow cats, headers, you wont get a huge differance.
|
wildbilly how much for them?
arock how much would you sell one of your handbuilt ones for? not waiting for KROOKS.... my friend waited 2 months for headers and no to mention the 15% price increase that he made effective june 1 lol.. |
