Painting a football helmet

My bro needs to paint a football helmet silver. Right now the helmet is light blue and is only a few weeks old. Few questions: what type of paint would be good to use? Would a hobby shop or something similar paint it for cheap?

wow...i never thought this would come up again, but me and Nick (the Hammer) just painted a football helmet. We got a special paint (i believe it uses quite a bit of flex agent) and sprayed it with a gravity fed spray gun. It worked out very well, just do it in a WELL ventilated area and try to keep a little airflow so you dont get dust/debris.

Is Nick the Hamster gonna wear the helmet when he races his Granada?

 it wasnt for him, his buddy plays semi-pro ball and needed it.

just clean it with wax&grease remover or laquer thinner, sand it, clean again, hit it with testors model paint (rattle can), or that new kyrlon fusion paint made for plastic (also rattle can). It's gonna scratch no matter what you do.

that krylon stuff is supposed to be pretty tuff, people are cleaning & painting kids toys with it.
