rear deck speakers in a coupe

my saturn has 6-3/4" speakers in the rear deck...which is pretty ghey. i have a pair of 6x9's from the lumina, so my question is...what can i do to make them work? take off the rear deck, cut a bigger hole, and stick em on there? or should i use speaker boxes?

actually, round speakers offer clearer sound and more accurate bass than oval ones. ever seen a oval subwoofer? yeah me niether....

but to answer your question, the bolts should line up very closely. i would cut out part of the deck (its probably like fiberboard or some cheap saturnlike material anyways) and try to fit it. if the holes don't line up, make a baffle out of MDF or any type of wood if you don't care

does the car have a aftermarket head unit? do you plan on putting one in? are any speakers blown? i'm asking this cause i know how awful the systems are in those old saturns.

im puttin in the panasonic head unit from the lumina, and thats where the 6x9s came from too...they sounded pretty damn good in the lumina. front speakers will stay stock if it sounds decent with the new head unit in there

aftermarket will be far better than stock. throw in what you have but don't expect the stock speakers to last very long

theyre 6-3/4" in the front doors too so eventually ill get some decent 6.5's and throw em in there....stupid GM and their odd sizes

6.5 fits fine. i use 6.5 myself
