Caddy-smack MPG testing
Oh yeah, with all the BS going on I almost forgot I was testing the Caddy-flack for MPG gains. Last test: inflated tires to 40 PSI, and added K&N airfilter. Checked mileage average @ fill up: 17 MPG. So, I gained ZERO! ZIP! ZILCH! NADA! NUTTIN! Next tests: installed Tornado thing-a-ma-jig [I know, I'm a SUCKA!], and I am going to moniter my driving habits. The Caddy has a mileage meter that gives mpg readings in real time wheile you are driving, so I'm gonna keep an eye on that and try to adjust for max MPG. Def gonna be hard w/ my led foot!

My next car is gonna be a cheep econobox. unstable bob doesn't do imports, so wah else is there besides an Aveo?

depends what you want/need and how much you want to spend.
the cobalt is infinately cooler than the aveo. the base cobalt costs $3k more than the base aveo, about 1k more than the base aveo sedan. more, and is still rated at 35ish mpg on the highway. if you want to spend a bit mroe on a beater you can look into the malibu, impala, and monte carlo. all have base prices below 22k and are rated above at 31mpg or better on the hgihway. all of these cars also have the GM 100k mile powertrain warranty and a 5yr/60k bumper to bumper. |

The 'Bu, MC, and Impy are too high line for me @ this point. |
please get a cobalt over the aveo. You don't want an aveo.

Update on MPG testing FTW!
OK, added Tornado thing a ma jig, used the MPG meter in the Caddy to adjust my driving style, and used cruise control whenever possible. MPG before: approx 17 mpg. Mileage after: 19.4!
WOOT! I'm up over 2 MPGs! I really can't say it was because of the Tornado. lol Cooling out on my Mad Max driving style musta did the trick. But on a rant note: friggin' drivers in this state make it hard to drive "normally." Azzclowns are either driving too fast, or too slow. I refuse to drive less then the limit, and it irks the hell outa me when you have to drive 5-10 miles under the limit because of some jerk. Then when you try to do the limit or a little more you get other jerks flying up and practically rearending you. This state sux! |
RAM AIR from home depot!
I got bored and played around w/ my wife's hyundai elantra and its intake. I yanked out the air silencer, air box etc. I installed home depot ducting in the engine bay... extended it to the fender and topped it off w/ a k&n. I need to extend it further into the fneder and nearer to the fog light opening in the fender for cold/ ram air intake. It's a cheap and easy mod to do. Picked up some power... fuel economy is better... and intake air temp dropped significantly. |

I was thinking about making a CAI, but I just bought a drop in K&N and called it a day. I have too much to do on my "real" cars to be messing w/ the Caddy that much. |
