True Duals Installed...w/ pics!!

Hey guys

I just got my car back a couple of weeks ago from having the new exhaust put on. I had a local shop fab it up, the guy custom bends all the pipe on site. He said it was one of the hardest systems he's done, took a week to finish in total. I'm very happy with the results, he made sure there were no creaks/rattles/ect, and it sounds very nice. Pretty tame at idle, but when you are under throttle you can really hear it. Mufflers are 6" round Magnaflows, tips are Hooker 3.5" slash cut.

I saw your car leave the Chatterbox the other day and I wasn't sure if what I saw was actually 2 mufflers. Its sounded really good. A little quiet at idle but thats great!

i was wondering who's car that was in the pictures, looks awesome man!

hows ground clearance, side pics??

Trans Aminal 07-03-2007 12:13 PM

Thanks for all the comments guys. Its a little quieter at idle than I had hoped it would be (I don't know why...they are straight through mufflers :?: ) but it gets much, much louder under throttle. Very stealthy I guess

As for ground clearance, I live on a mountain and there are plenty of uneven and hilly roads around me, and so far I haven't scraped at all. I think the ground clearance is much worse than it was with the stock y-pipe/flowmaster catback, he really tucked everything up nicely.

I will try to post a soundclip as soon as I can get a hold of a camcorder...

I can think of a piece of metal ~30 inches long with bumps on it that can make it a tad louder at idle ;-)

Looks good  but expensive, how much was it total for all parts/labor?
I was thinking of a TD system that's something like this.

The shop quoted me $500-$600 but it ended up being $700 even because of the extra labor involved with reshaping and resealing the spare tire well to fit the muffler on the passenger side.

The sound and performance are definitely worth the price, I wouldn't want to go back to any Y-pipe setup.

I could have gone with bullets...but I have to drive through my neighborhood at 1 in the morning a lot of times, as well as go through a town full of cops with nothing better to do, so I don't think that would go over too well

I have true duals with straight through mufflers on my third gen and they are the same way they're quiet at an idle but at open throttle it's real loud.

Tony's Auto Service in Washington, NJ. A guy named Ed does all the custom exhaust work there, he does nice work.

j0n 07-05-2007 10:15 PM

I may have to look into him in the future...thats a damn nice system for only 700 bucks
