Fixed the AMX...
One of the weirdest electrical probs I've ever seen...AMC uses a Ford style fender mounted starter solenoid, and it seems mine was shorted out, so the electrical circuit was basically broken because there was no grounding effect happening. Only took 17 beers and a couple hours to figure out. My little brother and a 35 year old AMC tech manual FTW!!! Only thing now is I'm too drunk to wanna do any further work on the car. Oh well, time for a Wendy's triple and a few more beers. Plus I have half a Big Nig w/ some Wodka mixed in...

Cool, ya found the gremlin. I just got done putting the new throwout bearing in and bolted the trans back up. I can now see what happened last year when I did the clutch job and how the TO bearing popped out of place and jumped the fingers of the clutch fork.

shoulda just rolled it to the junkyard for scrap money and bought an fbody :)

I used to have a Cavalier that ate TO bearings for some reason. And the noise a bad TO bearing makes is one of the worst sounds on earth. Good luck gittin' 'er back together. |
