Fluid in the cylinder..
Ok so when I pulled of the drivers side head I found fluid in the number 7 cylinder, like a decent amountm not a lot where its covering the whole piston, but enough where its sitting and covering I'd say like 1/4 of it. It seems to be coolant. Now I didn't drain the block of all the coolant so when i unbolted the heads, coolanted did piss out onto the floor. So i geuss it is possible it leaking into the cylinder too?
My question is, is this really bad? And what should i do? Should I try to just scoop it out or do you think it'll just burn off? I mean on the first start up i planned on draining the oil anyway this way to clear out any of the assembly lube or particles that may have gotten into the engine, will that just clear out with it? Any advice would help. Thanks. ,Nick |
Just take a shop vac to the cylinder and you should be ok. Just make sure you drain out all the fluids from the motor now in case some anti-freeze made it into the oil pan before you finish assembling and starting the car.

yea if the block had coolant in it then its to be expected that it will fall in to the cylinder
edit: you can just sop it up with a towel too |
spray some wd40 in there so it doesnt start to rust up from the water/coolent.

yeah, coat the cyl walls with wd40 so they dont rust.
but yeah you can just soak it up with a rag, or suck it out like alex said |
