the new ride has a carborator. when i go to start it it turns over but stalls immediately. then when i do get it started i have to gas it for about half a min. is this an idle issue, timing issue, or what? any imput would be appreciated.

need a little more info what kind of carb 2 bbl 4 bbl stock q jet, holley , edel blows but what your discribing is -- not enough choke or the choke pull off is inop or you have vacume leaks -- first what is it you have year of car ect -- jz

71 camaro 383 crate not sure the brand of carb. under the hood is all new, 600 milesw on them. how would i adjust the choke?

Can you post a pic of the engine with the air cleaner off? That way we can tell the carb type and some more stuff.

i sure will when this effin hurricane rain stops. my house was built in 1935, i have leaks everywhere.

stoney, I don't mean to be a jerk but can you take a shot of the whole carb in it's entirity?

Looks like a Holley HP or Demon to me...

not bein jerky. appreciate any help. it is a holley 4150HP. dont have papers yet so i dont know the cfm. but i did manage to adjust the throttle cable now they all open at wot. also adjusted the idle up to about 950. seems to be runnin rich now. idk for a car that has around 425hp seems a little slugish. i will have to have someone look at it i guess.

the 0078 picture shows the hose for the trans connected to the front of the carb - set the engine timing at 4 or 6 deg BTDC and than T into that hose and connect the dist vacume pod to it as well -- lower the idle and see what it runs like than -- jz

As jz said, try playing with the timing and reconnect the vacuum advance.

This is not an issue per se but you should not mount a coil sideways like that if you can help it (according to MSD, it may lead to premature failure).

It looks to me like the open port on the N2O solenoid is where you hook the AN-4 line (in this case) that leads to the bottle; that is the N2O feed part of the system. You can buy an AN-4 cap to keep junk and dust from getting in there.

I would also get a cheap pack of vacuum plugs and replace that hose with a screw/bolt sticking out of it. That looks shoddy and won't seal as well as a regular vacuum cap.
