Vacation was great, ride home sucked....

Well, Myrtle beach was awesome. Lots of stuff to do down there. Me and my girlfriend had a blast...

Lemme explain the ride home...

We had a rental car since I didnt have enough time to get a goat, we got a 2006 Mazda6. The car was amazing. Great handling, decent power too. Definately a good car. So on the way back, we were on I-95 in VA by Fredricksberg... when there is an 8 car pile-up a few miles ahead. So it was pretty much stop and go traffic, but more go then stop... I was coasting about 30 miles an hour, my girlfriend was in the passenger seat sleeping when all of the sudden I hear a "thump" behind us. My girlfriend immediately woke up, I look behind me, and some ******* slammed into us.... and when i looked in the back i already saw the car was totalled cuz the trunk was pretty much folded beyond proportion... I got out and inspected the damage and it was pretty much toast. The guy was very apologedic (if that is a word) always saying sorry. He was driving a stepside 98 GMC. He had NO damage at all, not even a scratch. Cop came about 20 minutes later, and immediately told me he was writing him up for wreckless driving AND tailgating. Very nice cop. So for 5 hours we were unloading and reloading all of our huge amounts of luggage out of the Mazda, into a rest area, then from the rest area into a taxi, then drive 45 miles in traffic to the Reagen Airport in DC, and into another rental they gave us, which was the G6. What would have been a 9 hour drive ended up to be a 16 hour drive.

So yea, crappy ride home, but everyone was alright. Ill post up some pictures of the damage later when I get ahold of my camera since Im still kinda unpacking. But when I say I heard a "thump", thats a very good thing, cuz for the damage the car got, I didnt get jerked around or anything. My girlfriend was a little shooken up, cuz, thats NOT a very good way to be woken up from a nap.

Glad you're ok. Good thing you didn't get the goat.

good to know you were protected in the incident. i wonder what the guy was daydreaming about when he hit you...

Knipps 08-19-2007 12:35 PM

sounds familiar.

roughly the same thing happened to me on my way home from boston
some azz clown cut someone off for the exit everyone was waiting for, the guy in front of us swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid an accident and my mom's eclipse left behind rubber on the highway

we got rear ended by a hyundai tucson (suv)..
not much damage to either car, my mom's bumper was just pushed into the support and a few of the plastic pins that held the bumper in popped out

my mom was debating whether or not to exchange info as it wasn't too noticable and when she finally decided to do it i told her it was probably a good idea as i noticed part of the trunk may have been pushed in

she's gonna have it checked out and then decide if she wants to go through insurance

what sucks is it wasn't really the guy's fault.. some azzclown in a blue cutlass out there got away from it all

Yikes...Poor Mazda.....I drove down to Myrtle Beach on the 18th...the traffic in VA was HORRIBLE both ways!!! In 2.5 hours I managed to go an entire 18 miles!!!! It was BAD! Vacation was awesome. Came home on the 25th and again...traffic was bad in VA and DE (bc of a toll) . Thats the end of my traveling on a Sat!!. Glad everyone after the accident...good thing it was a rental :)
