I R Happy Boy
just found a set of 400 pistons, .030 over, 10.1:1 compression for the 5.565 rods and they are by Keith Black(had very good luck with these when i was working for Big Als Toybox):w00t: and the best part, they are 60$ cheaper then the ones i found on Jugs/Skummit(they were 10.9:1 for a 5.7 rod, 296$) i r very happy. oh and i found out that the motor has brand new main bearings and seal. but i gotta get the crank repolished as my garage flooded out and it now has surface rust on it:evil: hmmm 406 SBC chevy with 10:1 shortblock:drool: now gotta figure out what vehicle i wanna do, thinkin either 60/70s 2wd GMC/Chevy pickup(RC/SB), a third gen bird/maro, or a late 60s/early 70s chevelle/nova. hmm i need more money

Why would you wanna stick with the 5.565 rods? I wish I had the money to jump to a 5.7 or 6.0 rod in mine.....

Best guesses for my motor (also quite a budget build) are 360 hp and 450 tq. Should be enough to keep me happy for a little while :) - Justin |
