shocks and springs
i picked up some shocks and springs..the fronts are already compressed mounted on the perch, is this something i would be able to do myself or should i just take it to a shop?

ive never done a front suspension but for the rears you can just jack the car up via the "frame" and let the rear dif pull away from the car and just pull on the springs and they'll come right out. Putting the new ones in is just as easy. Then put a second jack under the rear dif and unbolt the shocks and pull them out. Jack the dif up towards the car until the distance between the top and bottom mounting bolt is even with your new shocks and bolt them in.

if the fronts are mounted, you can toss them in then. I guess your doing the backs to match too?
Getting the spring on the "strut" is the hardest part. just would go buy a set of front swaybar endlinks if the ones on the car are original, and remember that the master cylinder will have to be unbolted and moved out of the way a little. the rest is straight forward. especially the back. worse you got to do there is lift the carpet. |

If the fronts are already mounted, then you have the hardest part out of the way. Getting those apart sucks, as the nut on the top holding the assembly together rusts and is almost impossible to take apart. When I did mine I had to take my front shock/spring assembly to my buddies shop and use the impact gun to get the nut off. On one of them, even with the nut off, the upper spring perch was seized to the KYB shock. Don’t ask how we got it apart, lol.

i had to cut my bolt off on the front too it was rusted to ****
