NJ Guys, good shop for header install?
Inquiring about a pacesetter LT install...Contacted ttp and he said he no longer installs pacesetters because they take to long because of fitment issues ,then I got an $1100.00 price from that new shop in Seaside NJ(which is insane) so im batting 1000 over here so far .Any help would be appreciated.

Check out JS Performance. He's just over the river in PA right out 195.

Yeah Matt has had too many customers come to him with pacesetters that apparently fit like crap.
Personally I would say buy yourself some tools, a jack & some jackstands and do what I did http://web.ics.purdue.edu/%7Ekanwisc...8Camaropg4.htm instead of spending an arm & a leg having someone else do a VERY easy bolt on for you. |
Found a guy in Atco that gave me a 400-450 at most quote , now thats what I was looking for. I have zero tools, no patience, and live in an apt. so the 400 bucks is a bargain lol

Give Josh@JS a call. He'll take care of you.

You'll have to call him, talk to him.
QTP has a place in Atco? |
Yes, Josh is a sponsor and he's got very reasonable labor rates. Send him a PM and he'll get back to you ASAP, or just give him a call.

the 'fitment issue' of pacesetters is bullshyt. i had them installed on my TA.....fit PERFECTLY, no issues, no nothing. TTP wont do it because hes a kooks dealer, and only wants to sell/install kooks. for the price of JUST the kooks headers, you can get pacesetters, catted Y, shipping, AND installation done.
not that youre anywhere near it, but dont go to Stage 1 on rt. 23. i thought he was a good place......he screwed up my exhaust something terrible. forgot a clamp (exhaust leak)......HORENDOUS welds (exhaust leaks).....put the bung for the right rear O2 sensor too far back, so now its stretched and throws an errant code now and then.....and hung everything so low, i cant get out of my garage, let alone driveway or god forbid hit a speedbump, without scraping the hell out of something. |

for the price TTP quoted me on JUST kooks headers alone, i bought and shipped my pacesetters, TSP catted Y, two O2 ext., AND had it installed at another shop, stage 1 (which as i said i am VERY displeased with their work). maybe there was $100-$300 differance, but still....thats a huge diff. when talking about one part, and 3 parts plus labor.
matt is there to make money.....fine, thats america. but you shouldnt be lieing/bashing other products just to swing business to your shop. from what ive seen there, i really dont think he has to worry about getting few more header installs done just to get by. it looks like hes doing fine for himself moneywise, but hey, never know. |
If you really want, we could get some guys together and install them at my house. You have to pay for pizza, soda and beer. But it really depends on your time frame and if you have all the parts to get your car back up and running in a decent time frame. Give Josh a call at JS first then post up if you're patient and willing to let a bunch of central Jersey hacks attack your car! I've done a bunch of stuff myself on my own cars so extra hands like your own can only help things go faster. What year car, emission's headers or not, do you have O2 sims or O2 extension's, cats or no cats with the y-pipe and what beer do you prefer?:?:

If Josh or anyone else on here can't give you a hand let me know and I can do them for you.....PM me to discuss pricing.

Im so glad that everyone hear took words and put them in my mouth. I sell Kooks, yes I do and yes I want to push that product of course. HOWEVER, if you properly read my ls1tech posts I said I will install anything that does not have repeated fitment issues. i.e. kooks, qtps, grots, mac mid lengths, hookers, etc.
Some pacesetters fit fine, others do not. They are inconsistent so I do not want to waste your money if it takes us 8-10 hours to put them on. My goal is to provide the customer with the best product, best fitment, not to make a killing off of a "small" project i.e. headers. I will not modify floorboards or any structural part of the car for proper fitment as some of the ebay brand, etc. headers need. And yes, they swing on my nuts. Why? I have the reputation read further... Also when you want to take words out of my mouth follow these rules: Open your eyes, read clearly, process, then speak! |
Wow.

Tell him Doug said Hi lol even though you will have to wait a week because he is out in Las Vegas for Sema |
JSPERFORMANCE for the win for me...Lowest install $ and very helpful. Plus ive heard nothing but great things about his work. Yes Tommy was also more then helpful, fast and insightful replies
|
Matt if that was directed to me I never bashed you in any of my posts, all I put out there was what I got back in my replys. I clearly stated numerous times that it was my opinion..You weren't a sponsor here at the time so no harm no foul. Im educated so i don't need communication lesson nor does anyone else here i think but thx. BTW I might have went a different path w/ my reply.

Monmouth: That reply was not meant for you by any means. It was for the other knuckle heads in this thread that are putting words in my mouth. I never said Pacesetters were junk, they actually make good power and are a nice budget combination. I don't install them because I've had them slip right in and fit perfect and other times its like pulling teeth to put them in. My customers expect a full quote from me and I don't like adding extra money to the bill in any situation. I can't give anyone a firm quote on the pacesetters, so to alleviate any problems I'd rather pass on the work.

Understood man..maybe ill make it down there for a dyno day when I ready and make my own face to face opinion. Welcome back to NJFBOA. Btw do you guys dyno stangs? .
|
LOL Monmouth. We sure do, even work on them too. Have a few lightnings and a bunch of mustangs under our belt, we just don't tell people on the GM sites :)
How about this.. I kinda feel bad rejecting your business concerning the Pacesetters but obviously you see why. Get the headers installed, call Billy @ my shop and you'll be TTP tuned for free. 973 365 2270 |
