Worst LeMans ever.

This LeMans is pretty much worthless now. This guy swapped in a supra motor , I guess he watched tokyo drift one too many times and thought it was a good idea.

This is horrible , When I found that LeMans I didn't realize that there's an actual magazine for this.

same thing as putting a chevy 350 in an old datsun or something...get over it

Predator86 09-27-2007 05:43 PM

thats gross....but people do this often....i know plenty of guys that put chevy motors into there mustangs for the track....but clearly thats an upgrade

amen.

i am not a fan of these engines (based solely on them sounding like trash) but i have to admire the work that people put into getting it done and doing it right.
face it, motor swaps happen to everything, it isn't a new idea because of the LSx motors. most of the jap motors weigh less, can sit further back, sit lower in the cradle, and can still be built to provide good power.

but we're talking about a motor that had trouble moving the car it came from... how's it going to perform in a car that weighs 1000 lbs more? i dunno, i guess it makes sense to some people, but if i was going to go through the trouble of an engine swap, i'd at least make it an upgrade.

all the video you postd shows is the car driving around. what does that prove? only thing it looks like to me is that he got the thing working properly in the classic car.
as far as barely getting out of it's own way, you seem to forget that most of the classic american muscle that seems to getting blindly followed so often were 15+ second cars in stock trim, just like an old stock supra. add a bunch of mods and magically fast happens, jsut like with an old supra. i am having trouble seeing the difference here.
american engines are not now and never were the only motor swaps going on. get used to it, it is getting more and more common.

engine performance aside i dont think any car should have an overseas engine dropped into it period IMO although i can give credit where its due...and most muscle cars pre-power sucking emission laws were running pretty decent numbers...theyre only time loss came from hardly gripping suspension and driveline......stiffen the suspension and get some beefy tires and walla..(in most cases)

NJSPEEDER 09-29-2007 07:11 PM

do you think it is acceptable to put an american power plant into a foreign car? same difference from my perspective.
besides, it is hard to beat the bang for the buck or power to weight ratio of a SBF in a miata.

IMO no...dont get me wrong its a definate improvement but still it just dosent sit well with me...besides u can get the around the same type of power to weight ratio by using a solstice or any other small american cars. Just look at the Mallet solstices. I also find it funny how ford guys talk all this crap about GM yet ive talked to several ford racers who drop chevy motors in there stangs and rangers etc.

SpeedMetalT/A 09-29-2007 11:19 PM

If this guy wanted a 6 cylinder to just be unique I think he should have built a sprint 6 with a turbo and at least keep it pontiac.

GP99GT 09-29-2007 11:55 PM

IF IT ISNT AMERICAN IT SUCKS! AMERICAN CARS 4 LIFE ALL IMPORTS SUCK OMFG LOLZBBQ

TIMMAY......an American motor in a foreign car?! thats the only way an import will run for *****........sbf in a Miata? surrender your man card....an LS1 in a Solstice or Sky......you know an LT1 would be better than a SBF.

you've got a definite chip on your shoulder. i didn't post the video to prove anything.

as far as the older cars being slow from the factory, this is true. you've still yet to counter my argument of swapping an engine as an UPGRADE. why go through all of the trouble to swap motors for the same timeslip? mod the new motor? mod the old motor - same difference.

obviously american motors are not the be-all-end-all, otherwise that's all that anyone would think to put in their car. sure, he gets points for daring-to-be-different, but that's all he's got. outside of that, the swap is silly, imo.

NJSPEEDER 09-30-2007 01:00 PM

mod the new or mod the old is my point actually. what does it matter what is between the frame rails as long as it makes the power you want?
i would consider dropping 100+lbs off the nose of a car, having a more efficient fuel injected engine, and having completed a rather unique swap a very nice upgrade over stock. the added advantage of boost, especially with an adjustable regulator, is a double bonus since additional power can be added or subtracted on demand.
