thinking about lt1

so ive been thinking about putting an lt1 in once the v6 blows up, just because its easier. but i dont know where to start. i want to build the engine up a little. and i want to make it stick. i looked at ebay, but i got alota garbage ad auctions. where should i start this build and does anyone have any suggestions?
looking to stay n/a for now. not higher than 11:1 comp.

Everything I have read says it is cheaper to just buy a V8 car. $0.02 It ain't like swapping in your 2nd gen.

Besides, an LS1 is tastier, LOL

You'll need a motor/trans, k-member, PCM, wiring, front springs (I think), radiator....and prolly more little things.

You'll prolly be better off cleaning up the v6 car and getting it running right, then selling it when you have some money saved up to go towards an LT1/LS1 car.

Of course, if you want to do the swap anyway, there are plenty of write-ups out there that should help you out, and we'll do our best to assist as well.

i know what i have to change and all, just i dont know where to start with the engine/trans set up

I find motors/trans on ebay all the time for fairly cheap, the thing is most of them are out of the cars and I don't know if I would really trust them when they say how many miles are on them and how it runs. I've been looking too cause I'm trying to find a deal on a block to start building my next motor.

I'd say your best bet really might be to just straight up buy an lt1 car, you can get one for a steal nowadays especially since your looking for a project car.

And you know who to call once to start the project lol :)

Including all the harness changes you'd need to keep everything working, like gauges, fans, ABS, and side systems like AC, PS, etc...? I might think the engine & trans setup is the easiest part of the swap.

you can find some LS1 motor/trans dropouts on ebay and LS1tech. then youd need the other stuff like justin said. a friend of mine is thinking about going the LS1 route to replace his blown up 95' LT1 z28. for the price of the swap, you could score a good LT1 car and not have to worry about changing anything though. 86 formula nabbed his 96 camaro for 3700.00, and it's running 12s with minor bolt ons

You could start by going to Stage 1 in Pomptain Plains & see if my old motor is still there. You can have it for free if you can just get me the red engine stand its on!
