I'm using Valvoline Race Oil 10W-30 for my original engine. What are you using?

For the winter(or most of the time)a 5W-30 would help it START easier in very cold weather. Also most RACE OILS are not meant to be used for EVERYDAY driving. A better choice would be MOBIL 1 Synthetic Oil or my favorite is Royal Purple Synthetic 5W-30, which has been proven to get an extra 2-3 horsepower(has been featured and tested in HOT ROD magazine). :nod:

I have been using the Valvoline Dura blend full synthetic 10w40 for the last 5 oil changes and I am pretty happy with it...
It might be a cheaper alternative for you than the VR1 oils

Royal Purple 5w30 :)

Royal Purple Synthetic - has a short life cycle the agent in it that is released is in a cycle span for a race program, and is no good once its used up - Mobil 1 is the best deal on the market for extended use and lubrication period - jz

Cavalier 2.2 Ecotec: Amsoil synthetic 0-30
AMX 366: Castrol Syntec 15-50
Buick T-Type 3.8 Turbo: Castrol Syntec 15-50

I think that we are talking about the two different blends. Royal Purple that you buy in PEP BOYS is about $7.00 a Quart. There Racing Oil is called XPR, and costs about double that. That's the stuff that you have to change after every race season. The automotive grade is very close to the Mobil 1 in every aspect, including oil changes and the additives that are put into it.

Additives are the deal here. Like you have mentioned, race oil is not made to have the same longevity as street oil.
