Could use everyone's help...
Some of you saw a thread or on the news recently of a girl who lost her fiancee just 5 days prior to her wedding. Well, the facility that he was to have the reception has bascially refused to return any money to her. She paid about $22k for this reception and the facility has stated they are only liable to return $1000!!!! If you have not seen the artcles, they are here...

On that date we will be doing a 2 fold event. A dinner theater in one room and a beef & beer in the other. Costs are not set in stone as of yet, but they will be around $75 for the dinner theater and $25 for the beef & beer. We are also looking for donations for a Chinese auction that will be done at the beef & beer, as well as monetary donations. ALL proceeds from this evening will be given to Victoria (the bride) and her son so that they do not lose their home and have money to pay their bills since her fiancee did not have life insurance. The details... Dinner Theater...Put on by Mae & Co. with full dinner. Cash bar. This is an interactive show. Beef & Beer...All the food and beer you can drink for $25 for 5 hours!!! DJ and Chinese auction. We will be putting the information on our website, www.marjeane.com, this week. I also have some "special" things that I am trying to put together for this night as well. NBC10 will be helping in spreading the word on the news and I also believe that they will be in attendance as well. So far, I have the dinner theater company doing the show @ cost, a limo company donating a limo to pick the bride up, the DJ for the beef & beer donating his time, and also a photographer to take photos the night of the event. I am NOT making a penny on this event, I am only covering my costs, all proceeds are going to this poor girl. What I am asking of everyone is to spread the word and attend if possible. For those who own businesses or work for ones that would be willing to send items for the Chinese auction or just send a donation, please contact me ASAP. We are looking to put 100-150 people in the dinner theater and if we can 200 or more in the beef & beer, I think we will be able to give this girl a substantial amount of money. I am currently waiting on the dinner theater company to get me more specific details on the show because right now, we have the name of the show and I know the basic premise. OK, quick update, NBC10 was at my location today. I finally got to meet Victoria for the first time, and I will tell everyone, my heart truly goes out to this girl for all that she is going thru!!!!
Anyway, the interviews will be on tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 14th on All That & More with Tracey Davidson. It airs between 4 & 5 pm but can also be seen with Comcast On Demand. It has also been confirmed that NBC10 will be in attendance on the night of the benefit. Also, for anyone else that would like to make a donation, a special bank account has been set up. whoa... that sucks. i think some pressure should be put on the reception hall to return ALL of the money to her. either that, or get them as much bad press as you can. that is completely heartless. i understand that they may be in business and that they need to cover their asses, but when someone dies you gotta have a heart.

This whole event has been covered by Preston & Steve on WMMR, NBC10, 3 different newspapers, etc.
Also, Just another quick update... This story just aired both Friday evening and Sunday morning on NBC10 news. We are also getting a HUGE response from businesses and people. Slight change of format for the evening. The dinner theater is now gone, in it's place we will be having CASINO tables!!!!!! Both of our banquet rooms will have their bars open, food in one room, DJ's in both rooms, the items donated for the raffles, and the one room with Blackjack tables, roulette, craps, and a money wheel!!!!!
It's gonna be a great night and all for a good cause. Only 2 weeks away!!!! |
