I just might have the most RWHP for a cam only(Torquer V3) LS1...opinions? dyno pic
So as some of you might have read in a prior post I was going to be doing a cam swap in my 98 M6 LS1. I just got the car back with astounding results..here is the rundown
TSP torquer V3 Cam PRC Valvetrain kit LS2 timing chain LS6 intake Kooks longtubes,CATTED Y, SLP catback UD pulley Lid DYNO tune 4.10 gears That is all. The car has 82K on it with a LS7 clutch and LS2 flywheel. I had TTP in Toms river NJ Dyno the car. The following #'s are WC (weather corrected) 419 RWHP 372 RWTQ I couldn't believe my eyes....Once I drove the car, it was all so clear how badass it is  The tune came out phenomonal. No surging, nice idle...feels awesome. It pulls like a freight train from just over 3 grand all the way to 6500. To anyone looking for a CAM...This is a awesome one, sounds amazing too! Just get yourself a good tune. I'd like to thank Tom from Anger Management Racing for his awesome work...anyone in NJ looking for a top notch mechanic..he is the man to go to! http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ttepics029.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ttepics028.jpg |
good numbers, but not best ever. after our club dyno day at TTP in passaic these were demonic00bird's results. he has a custom grind bump stick and the car was still lacking a few bolt ons and a good tune at the time. i believe the cam had literally only been in the car for a matter of hours at the time these pulls were taken.

we will be headed back to TTP for our may monthly meet for another great dyno day in '08 |
i have that cam and ported ls6 heads and i made only 386/359
but i also have a valvetrain problem. nice results! |

not to mention 231/234 cam to a 245/250 cam :) |
cam only = cam only. he made the claim i was just pointing out that there are those who have dyno'ed higher.

Yeah I was pretty certain I didn't have the most HP ever...but for what I have on the car I am really happy. If I go to true duals, I'd prob pick up a few ponies...plus I have dual cats (highflow)
I am just so thrilled I went with this cam  Oh and thanks for compliments QuickZ  |
all that and 370 torque? i have just bolt ons and have 370.......? was my dyno run off or something?
|
that is something that isn't too unusual with LSx engines. they make broad torque curves, but not huge peaks. they were mostly designed and work with higher hp numbers and long power curves.
too bad all engines aren't like that old poncho you have in your driveway, all torque and low rpm :D makes keeping good tires on teh car tough, but it sure is fun to drive. hehe |

He had his car dynoed at TTP. TTP uses a Dynojet and HarrisSpeedworks where Brandon's(Demonicbird) car was dynoed was on a Dynocom. Dynojets are known to be alot more accurate not to mention they cost alot more than a dynocom dyno. I had a discussion about this with both shop owners and both keep up to date with their dynos. Matt @TTP always get the latest updates and any fixes he needs for his dynojet because he specializes in LSX tuning. Nice #'s Jared! Def a strong beast you got there.

Brandon's car was dynoed at TTP the day after he installed the cam (club dyno day, a few dozen of us were there to see it), that's what the numbers that NJSPEEDER quoted above are from.
IIRC he put down over 400 RWTQ @ Harris - Justin |

BTW, I'm not trying to take anything away from Jared here....just showing that it's not the most RWHP from a cam-only car. - Justin |
