Christmas for the AMX...

I decided to buy the AMX a new hood for Christmas. I kinda got sick of having the Phord style scoop, as it messes with the factory "Trans Am" look. So, I bought a VFN stock style AMX cowl induction hood. I figure I can sell the old hood for a few bux, I'll get the look I want, and I will have functional cowl induction. So, itz a win-win-win situation. :)

Sounds cool. You got a pic or a link or something?

VFN doesn't have any picts of it on their webby, but it is the same style hood as on this Trans Am racer:

Nice. What wheels are on your car? Those minilites (I think) look great - so Trans Am.

UBG has I believe 18" Torque Thrust D's...only reason I know is that Bob has a good taste in wheels, since I know of an Orange 64 Fairlane that has the same wheels

Panasports? Blah, real Minilites are the only way to go!

But UB, why would you want to take that Ford hood off your Mustang?

The bobmobile looks cool with those rims.

new hood will be an improvement, I believe.

The reason I had the Phord scoop on the car is that back in the 90's I got drunk one weekend, and decided I needed a velocity stack coming through the hood. So, I cut a hole and added the stack. I later grew tired of that look, and a buddy of mine gave me the Phord scoop. Sooooooo, I took care of my "holey" problem by adding the Phord scoop. The scoop doesn't look "bad," but I always thought it took away from the "factory" Trans Am racer look. So, I finally decided to do something about it. And I will also be changing up my paint scheme a bit when I add the new hood. 8-)

Yeah, the Mustang AMX was a model that never made production. 3 prototypes were build, but the car quickly got a repution as a "widow maker," because it was so hard to handle that much power. 1 of the prototypes crashed and was destroyed during testing at the Goodyear test track, the 2nd one was crushed, and the 3rd one was "snuck out the back door," and I later purchased it.
THE END
