Nissan GTR tested 0-60, 1/4 mile

:shock::shock:
And the results were done on a crappy airport runway!

Just wait for track prep!

Then boost controller!?!?

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up in real comparo's on the same surface in the same weather with the likes of Z06, Viper, and whatever else they decide to throw at it....

NJSPEEDER 12-30-2007 09:49 PM

interested in seeing a price tag comparison too. the Z06 has been the king of bang for the super car buck for a long time. is it possible that there is finally a challenger to that thrown?

Teds89IROC 12-30-2007 09:52 PM

I agree with Justin and Tim

misterjuice 12-30-2007 09:53 PM

it's no neon.

SteveR 12-30-2007 10:04 PM

Not too shabby. I'm curious to see how durable it is too. Hopefully they designed it to handle more power than what its built with. I wander if it can handle some slicks and a lot of track time. All they need to do now is create a factory aftermarket for it like they did with the original NISMO and it should do pretty good.

qwikz28 12-30-2007 10:11 PM

7:50 in the N-ring, similarly a Z06 did 7:49 in similar track conditions. that thing has balls

Motor Trend said it's the Z06 killer because the price tag will be lower than the current Z06. However they also said the car will run something like 11.7 at 149

I'm curious to see what it stacks up, however the ZR1 will own the road when it comes out.

NJSPEEDER 12-30-2007 10:56 PM

the ZR1 isn't really a bang for the buck super car like the ZO6 is. they are talking about close to double the price tag to go from ZO to ZR.
it will depend on how much less the nissan is than the ZO6 and if the ful spec car will ever see the road in north america in volume. remember, gm doesn't restrict production on teh ZO6. if dealers/buyers order it, chevy will build it. that has beenone of the knocks on most of the cars that companies try to challenge the ZO6 with, even if they are in teh ballpark on price or perforamnce, they are limited production vehicles.

Thats a good point, the Skyline GTR was never even an official release here in the US, but you could have it imported for a really high price.

slasherbarb 12-31-2007 01:21 AM

always been a fan of Skylines, and this one makes me  more than any other generation!!! like they said, Nissan got it right...

It depends, it's going to depend on what the dealers mark the ZR1 up to.

GP99GT 12-31-2007 07:00 AM

fast, but i still think its ugly

chemicalstylez 12-31-2007 09:23 AM

It did have the G35 look for sure. Prolly won't ever see it in the US though.

Slow 88 12-31-2007 09:54 AM

Damn, that is pretty damn impressive!

keith2717 12-31-2007 12:04 PM

uhm.... yeah we will.

NJSPEEDER 12-31-2007 12:14 PM

it is based on the same platform as the G35/350Z from what i have read. all of the driveline components are obviously upgraded.
i hope they bring a version with some balls to the US market. it woudl be fun to see what the magazines test be teh same as what makes it to the street from a japanese company for once.

yeah, then watch it spit the axles out! it may be cheaper initially, but I bet upgrades and replacement parts will cost a ton.

*edit*

just watched the vid, that thing has some wheel hop at around the 2:30 mark.

yeah that car has a very complex transmission. each car must be checked by a mechanic before it hits the streets to avoid defects. i don't imagine it withstanding much more boost than stock. the wheel hop is gonna be a problem too if its as bad as in the video. i like cars that are gonna be beaten on to be as simple as possible.

either way this thing is awesome. it looks cool, has a fresh interior, and has the performance to go with it. and we should all be thankful because the big 3 are gonna step up their game with the viper, vette, and gt because of it.

NJSPEEDER 12-31-2007 01:34 PM

th transmission is supposed to be the same case and cluster as the FIA homoligated ralley cars use, jsut in a two wheel drive layout instead of all wheel drive.
i don't think the trans or final drive are in much danger, half shafts would be a different story. those suckers are doomed if it wheel hops like that all the time.
