Any plumbers in the ranks????

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with plumbing and might be willing to help me out with a small problem.

I have a house that is pretty old and the previous owners sucked. I tried replacing the shut off valve for the toilet because i am putting up wainscotting and needed to get the wall fitting over the pipe. Anyway, the pipe ripped right out of the wall and I need to replace it.

I already tore open the wall. All I need is someone with a pipe cutter to come and cut out the old pipe and soder in a new pipe with a T fitting. I can then re-sheetrock and do the finishing touches.

Anyone? Willing to pay but I just called someplace up and they said $250 I'm sure because it's the weekend. I'm not desperate since I have a 2nd bathroom, but thought maybe someone here had the experience.

Thanks

Gene

Its not that hard to do yourself.

I don't have any of the tools. No pipe cutter, no soddering gun, I'd rather someone do it that has experience.

if the previous owners suck, I highly recommend using that money towards tools to do it yourself. Houses like that can just be job after job and a huge money pit if you don't plan on doing the work yourself

usually we use a friend of the family but his father just passed away so he's unavailable for a few days.

what ripped out that you would need a "t" fitting? How does the rest of the pipe look? My father is a plumber, so i can "plumb" pretty well, and soldering is not really that hard, but you need to be careful not to burn the house down. While not the best way, but will work if the pipe is in good shape, but ever think of compression fittings?

Where are you from?

:stupid: any hardware store has the small cutter as well as the solder, flux, mesh paper, and the torch.

where are you located

firehawk1120 01-05-2008 06:17 PM

bloomfield.

Basically, the pipe that comes out of the wall to the shut off valve for the feeder line to the toilet bowl is what ripped out of the main line behind the wall.

House is very old, need to be extremely careful with fire around the beams, if a fire started the house would go up really quickly.

I just shut off the water for the weekend. I have a friend of my fathers coming over this morning to take care of it for me.

Thanks for the offers, but Sat. and Sun. I already had stuff planned and the Giants game was on so didn't have much time to get on here.
