3rd gens with pro kit
I need a favor from you guys. I have hooker super comp long tubes and currently I have about 3.5" of ground clearance with them. The car still has the stock springs and I know for sure they are worn out and the car is lower than stock. I'm pretty sure I'll only lose maybe another .5" or so with the pro kit but I wanted to know what height you guys have from the ground to the center of the fender. Here are some pics I took:

Just a little of topic but how do you like the hooker long tubes? Do they hit the frame anywhere? Did you have to modify anything to make them fit?

I've wanted to lower my 1991 Formula, but I have the Dual Cat Converters and my clearance is just about nil now. It scraps just getting it onto a drive-on lift and JUST barely makes it over the post lift setups. If I were you, I would put in the stock springs and SAVE your headers from being squashed:rofl: the first time you have to go over a speed bump. I know it looks 100% better lowered, but the choice is yours.

its going to be a tough call, cars weight varies between models and the mods done, i put my car on sportlines, and it was higher than other cars with the prokit.
this was my car on sportlines http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...1/PIC00017.jpg I had 27-27.5" with a 25.7" tire. Which is close to most of the prokits ive seen on more stock vehicles ________ HAMBURGLAR |
I guess I need measurements from a camaro then to be more accurate. My car is pretty much stock as far as anything making significant weight difference. I have measurements from a 3rd gen camaro that had new moog iroc replacement springs installed and he was 27 3/4 up front and 28 3/4 in the back, which is an inch taller than how my car sits now. I guess I just have to grab the pro kit, install it, and see if I can live with it lol

Fast92RS, I like the hooker super comp LT's a lot. I had to raise the engine a bit to get them in but other than that no problems. They don't hit the frame rails and are clear of everything. I grinded down an edge from where the control arm bolts to for some peace of mind that over time vibration wouldn't cause any rubbing, it was close, but that was it. I also had to use a starter from a 94-95 Z28, they're essentially "mini" starters compared to ours and not only are they light but they fit great. I needed headers to replace my ****** flowtech shorties I had and I knew I was swapping in a 400ci eventually, so I went with the LT's which will benefit me more down the road.

I'll be going up to Josh's where my car is right now, tomorrow. If you can wait I will take a measurement for you. Just giving you the heads up, the pro-kit rear spring rate is exactly the same as a factory iroc spring...pro-kit made it look like the ass end came up just a hair and the front end drop considerably once it all settled...

that would be awesome, could you get pictures too?

What's the ride height with two adults in the car? Any significant loss of height?

ted i my sportline springs just came in i'll take pics as soon as i put them in
|
ted, i don't have the time right now to upload the pictures for various reasons, but i did take them, and the front measures right to 26", the rear is 27.5".
If I had to judge I would say your springs aren't as shot as you would think. there are pictures lurking around somewhere on this board of south meets in the past...i'll try to find some later. |
